it is not the router, my PS3 was the same way before my Yellow light of death last night, it would always register lower speeds than my PC on the speed test sites, no matter the day of the week....I have a D-Link router for gaming.

I started a thread about 1 week ago. After I switched my cable modem, everything has been lightning fast. My problem was the moto surfboard modem, so when I swapped that out everything was fine: laptop, desktop, xbox, ps3. Before only my laptop, desktop, xbox were fast, but my ps3 was very slow. Some people like brett said that he had no problems with his moto surfboard modem, but it was my problem. Now I'm downloading at 15,000kbs when before it was only 2-3000kbs. Like many people, I tried all the port things, DMZ, DNS, changing routers, but nothing worked.

It HAS to be a router or modem issue, I've tried everything both wired and wireless on my PS3, a friend also brought his PS3 over and same issue, I'll probably go shopping for a new router/cable modem soon. Or should I ask comcast to replace my modem first?

I go to the command line and use:

ping 192.168.1.100 (or whatever the PS3 IP is?)

My router is 192.168.1.1 and I set my PS3 IP to be static to 192.168.1.100, and I opened up the DMZ to the PS3 IP address.

PS3

Download speed: 946kbps
Upload speed: 3923kbps

PC

Download speed: 5486kbps
Upload speed: 4323kbps

The speed often varies, but the PS3 speed has never been close to 3000kbps whereas the PC speed has been over 9000kbps, the upload speed seems to be the same for both machines.

Solutions I've tried:

I have set the PS3 with a static IP and forwarded the following ports: 80, 443, 5223, 3478, 3479, 3658, 10070, 10080.
I have tried enabling DMZ to the the static IP that I set for the PS3
I have tried changing the Transmission rate on the Advanced Wireless setting from Auto to 9Mbps and 6Mbps, nothing has provided satisfactory results, does anyone have any suggestions or are facing similar problems? The most curious thing is that the download speed is so different while the upload speed is very similar.
my ps3/pc speed test is the almost the same.
