Good to see others vouching for Sunshine after intial responses for Sunshine have not been stellar.

I'm heavily considering Baraka myself as a blind buy. I have not watched the Narnia series either but aiming to blind buy those when the price is right.

Also it seems 3:10 to Yuma made a lot of lists for blind buys. I guess a lot of us missed it in theaters

It felt like they couldn't create a real plot so they kept changing scenery and having fights so people wouldn't notice.

Good blind buys:
1. The Invasion
2. Layer Cake
3. Doomsday
4. Redbelt

Bad blind buys:
1. AVP: Requiem -- Bought it on Black Friday and was disappointed with the movie itself, but not the disc. Sold it three days later.
2. Hitman -- Didn't care for it anymore after I saw it twice in the theater. However, Olga Kurylenko was smokin' hot in the movie!
3. Across the Universe -- Love the Beatles' music, but didn't care for the movie. Sold it six weeks later.

The only blind buy I have done is Band Of Brothers and it is now in my favorites of all time. Lets see how Close Encounters, 2001, and The Day The Earth Stood Still turn out

The only blind buy I've made is Wall-E, I thought it was a great movie. PQ/AQ were superb.

The other blind buy I contemplated but never bought was Hancock. Rented it instead. Glad I did, I wasn't all that impressed. It was enjoyable, but I can't see myself watching it over and over again.

I also don't blind buy very often.

Liked:

Apacalypto
Incredible Hulk
Galapagos (so much so I'm going to buy others blind in this genre)

Disliked:

300

I'll edit if I can think of more but these are the ones off the top of my head.

I usually only do blind buy that are not so blind (because they are mainly sequels), so no deception here :

Rambo
Live free or Die Hard
Potc 3
Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds live at Radio City

Will be blind buy soon:

X-Files I want to believe
The Dark Night

I think I have the same taste as you. I blind bought both of these and had the same reaction. I like sci-fi, but I guess not this kind of sci-fi

So far, I'm only disappointed that I bought Halloween (original) and Bridge to Terabithia. Although both were kinda good. Well, I honestly don't see what's great about Halloween.

Best blind buys:
  • Close Encounters of the Third Kind
  • Dawn of the Dead
  • Day of the Dead
  • Evil Dead II
  • Total Recall

Why do you hate Mongol with a passion? I am thinking about picking it up.
