So what do we reckon will be the next wave of titles to slide over to PV?

I'm guessing before Christmas we'll see copies of
Kung Fu Panda
SW - Clone Wars
Hellboy 2
Tropic Thunder
Wall-E

But I think all of those copies will disappear very quickly. They're pretty much A-list titles for the most part.

And by the end of the month we'll probably see
Southland Tales
Fred Claus
Hancock
Jarhead
(probably not many)
The Kingdom
Meet Dave
Superman - Doomsday
(again, not many)
Lucky Number Slevin

And sometime in early January we'll get Wanted and X-Files - I Want To Believe.

Keep posting your finds!

Anybody got a Jumbo Video near them? I don't know their BD status, but they used to be a good source of PV videos and DVDs back in the old days.
Hellboy 2 has been sitting in my Blockbuster for 2 weeks now (i don't want it)

And Fred Clauss, i wonder what the price will be on that? since its $19.99 retail

I've seen a few copies of Hellboy 2 already as well. I think video stores over-ordered that title and saw that interest was minimal.

So... Here's MY deal of the day!

I was in The Beat Goes On here in Kitchener (for those of you who don't know, it's a used CD/DVD place) and they had The Godfather box set for $59.99. I figured I might as well get it, as I've been wanting this since it came out.
They also had a copy of Planet Earth (the David Attenborough-narrated version) for $59.99 as well. I figured that I'd just bite the bullet and buy both.

So I go up to the counter and the dude starts popping the discs into the case and rings them up.
I figure that with tax, it'll come to about $140.00.

My total? $74.00.

There is no 'Buy-One-Get-One-Free' signage anywhere.

I say nothing. I don't question it and I give him my money. He stamps my card twice and I head out on my way, amazed that I just got 2 premium box sets totalling 8 discs for only $74.00.

So if any of you have The Beat Goes On in your neighbourhood, you better call and see if they're running a BOGO promo.

Also: Their price on The Matrix set was $69.99. Pretty reasonable.

thecroshow, not to fret... new titles get added even 2 weeks or so. if your looking for a specific title just check the date it was released and then give it 4 weeks exactly. previously viewed copies are transfered a month after the movie is first released to our purchase shelves.

I agree. $20 for a used PV blu should be standard, not a deal. 2 for $30 at BBV, or 30% off PV at Rogers is a deal.

ur right, sometimes titles arn't transferred bcuz of the store getting too few rental copies that they cant spare selling any used (stores usually like to keep a min of 2-3) OR they transfer maybe 1 or 2 to used but by the time the weekend roles around they've been picked up by somebody whos been in earlier in the week. i know there are a few titles from the month of dec we'll be selling used in a while cuz of overstock rental copies:

Wanted
Hellboy 2
Dark Knight
Burn After Reading
Death Race
Eagle Eye
The Mummy 3

ones we didn't get enough of to sell pv
Step Brothers
Fred Claus
X-Files
Price Caspian

I agree completely, especially since most of those BD titles are available brand new at less than $20. Don't believe me? Check the Amazon prices and the Amazon Marketplace prices.

If you consider the super shopping free shipping and the fact there are no taxes added to an Amazon order some of the prices are a total steal. Amazon also had some of the most impressive Black Friday deals, such as all the six James Bond BD releases for $35 total.

Exactly. Other than some older catalogue Warner titles, you're not going to find many new-releases for less than 20 bucks.

Hi
I'm a newbie when it comes to blu-ray discs - my question is ... Do the same problems occur with P.V. Blu-rays as with P.V. DVDs ? The reason I ask is I found about 1 in 10 P.V. DVDs had to be returned for replacement - unplayable. And somewhere I read that BDs are even more susceptable to failure when damaged.

I've bought several from Blockbuster and never had a problem. Not only that, they are fully guarenteed and will give you your money back if they are defective.

And generally Blu-ray owners are much more careful than the regular rabble that buy and watch standard DVDs.

So I have yet to see any new PV deals out there yet. The gal at my local Blockbuster said that they pull titles to add to the PV section every Monday, so I'll be checking the day after tomorrow to see if any choice titles have been added.

Stubblecat: Good score on those box sets!

I just came back from my local Rogers and picked up PV copies of Incredible Hulk, Wanted, and Prince Caspian from their 3-for-2 special, so they came to $16.42 each with taxes. You mentioned you were looking for Wanted and X-files, so now they're available!

I recommend checking Rogers every few days... various stores put out various titles about twice a week. If it's a new release, you can be sure that they'll have many copies, but they won't last long.

welcome to the forum fist of all! now to answer your question, i've worked at blockbuster for over 3 years now and yes, out of every 10 previously viewed movies we sell 1 turns out to be defective or damaged. now blu-rays are actually better than standard dvds in resisting damage. their surface is coated with a special material that further protects the data on the disc from fingerprints, scuffs and scratches. that being said theres a limit to everything so there is a point to which is their mistreated they will skip. but since we've been selling previously viewed blu's i haven't had 1 customer come back with a defective disc. (yet). and for those 10% of customers who run into problems with discs we offer a 30 day garuntee so if your disc skips or dosent play properly we replace it with a working copy of the film for you. if our store dosnt have another copy of your title, then we give you a credit on your account to rent or buy anything else in the store. we do not give refunds on preciously viewed product, only new retail. refunds were a part of our old policy, but alot of ppl tend to go home watch/ burn the movie n come back to say it dosent work n they want their money back. so they stopped that policy, those freeloaders ruined that for everybody else. still, i myself dont mind the store credit cuz i can most likely find something else i want in a video store. hope this helps

On Monday (January 5th), Blockbuster will be selling PVs of The Dark Knight and Wanted for $19.99. And they're already supposed to be shelving PVs of Hancock for the same price.
