That would more likely be a PSP2 instead of a 4000.

Default Sony: "No psp2 development" syrsly guiz

Quote:
Reports that game publishers are already working on a "PSP2" are flat-out false, Sony (SNE) executives say.

Speaking to SAI earlier today, Sony Director of Hardware Marketing John Koller said he's familiar with Internet reports PSP2 game development is already underway, but said the rumors are completely unfounded. What's going on, Koller told us, is Sony is pushing developers away from its "Universal Media Discs" and towards digital distribution of games via the PSP store. Someone misinterpreted the new push as "PSP2" development, Koller said.

clearly this isn't the usual "we don't comment on rumors and speculation", so there ya go..no psp2 anytime soon

oh and since its been posted here already, and we're talking about the psp2

even tho this render is older than the psp itself, its a fairly good idea. would make the most use out of a touchscreen, hides the 2 sticks and face buttons. can be used easily opened and closed. me like

again..VERY OLD RENDER. PRE PSP! NOT REAL. NEVER HAPPENING

It would be so awesome if they used that design!

I think a lot of people would be swayed to buy a PSP if it looked like that...

Oh, and for the record, Sony have started designing an in-house 4.3" 16:9 OLED screen to be used in an undisclosed consumer device. Could be a Walkman though...

That design is so frackin awesome though! . They should use it, its sexy as all get out! I used to own a psp and got rid of it because I could NOT get used to not having 2 thumbsticks. Until they add another one I won't be purchasing a psp.

Yeah, I did the same thing and I'll wait till they do that before I buy another one.

On another note and to add to the rumor pile, was watching xplay last night and when they started talking about psp 4k/psp2 news they said something about devs starting to work on a new software development or something.

What is the measurements for the ipod touch? Anyways like max said it could be a new walkman, and we all know they need to revamp their walkman line because right now it sucks and they're getting spanked by not only apple but creative labs, microsoft, panasoni, etc...

And why would they tie it in to Amazon's MP3 player store and not the PSN Music store that's coming? Also, please use Chrome or Firefox for the browser.

That looks pretty sweet. Once the actual PSP-4000 is announced and the features are good, I may look at replacing my original PSP model.

Yeah, I have the PSP Slim and its a little beat up. I figure that once they release one that has the capability to play PS3 games remotely (I.E. Have 2 analog sticks and L2,R2), I'll definately be looking to upgrade.

I mean, thats pretty much the reason why we can't play those games in remote play, right? Because the PSP doesn't have the controls to handle it?

A second thumbstick would be useless. None of the games released would actually use it.

1) They did it with the PS1.
2) Updates, just like rumble with the PS3.

Slightly different point of comparison.

You didn't need to buy a new PS1 to use the new controllers.

It would be an optional device unless they wanted to market it as a PSP 1.5, sort of like the new DS. Of course, the gameboy strategy has typically been 'half-steps' to the next version, GB, GB Color, GBA, DS, DS Photo [or whatever it's called]. So that's not necesarrily a bad idea.

2nd analog only on the PSP2 IMO

PSP 4000 could have the following features:
-Fix the screen problems of the 3000
-Camera (at least 3MP)
-Built on HDD or Flash memory
-Any other feature that they want to test/use on the PSP2

FW upgrade that includes:
-HOME support
-Trophies (most popular games get patched on)
