Well, looks like I spoke too soon. Netflix has changed their policy so that if your top movie is not available locally, they will send you your next wanted movie and send out your first wanted movie from the remote location.

Color me impressed!

Netflix once again skipped my first five movies and sent me #6 in my queue today. This is the third time they have done this. (And no word that they will ship me a movie from another location)

I hope you are right about a policy change.

They actually shipped me my number 100 last week which I still don't understand. The first 99 weren't all wait. But I'm getting tired of Netflix and am about to switch to blockbuster.

The top of my Queue reads like this.
Eagle Eye - Very Long Wait
Res Evil - Degen - Very Long Wait
The Strangers - Short Wait (Yes this has been at the top of my queue for way over 2 months now.
Mummy 3 - Long Wait
Incredible Hulk - Short Wait (same as Strangers)
Wall-E - Long Wait
Death Race - Very Long Wait
Ghost Town - Very Long Wait
Burn After Reading - Very Long Wait
Leatherheads - Long Wait (same as Strangers)
Longshots - Long Wait
Plus a couple of others. This is not acceptable service. I somehow got Traitor and House Bunny last week. I think because they came out on Friday and I timed my returns perfect as I do every Monday but that doesn't help at all anymore. Both places give top service to new people so if I switch I should get stuff right away I actually want to see.

Today I received an email stating that they didnt have Bottle Rocket at my local distribution center and thats why they didnt ship it, however, they are shipping it today from a different facility. So, without any complaints or queries from me (no contact whatsoever) they sent me a bonus disc. GOOD SERVICE Below is the email.

Shipping update

Dear Danny,

Bottle Rocket was not available from your local shipping center. Fortunately, it was available from a shipping center in another part of the country. It's on its way and should arrive within 3 to 5 days.

You'll notice we also recently sent the next available DVD from your Queue to enjoy while Bottle Rocket makes its way to you.

Your Queue now shows this extra DVD rental. Enjoy.

-The Netflix Team
I had an open slot and placed Tinker Bell in my queue on Saturday and it showed expected delivery as "Now" and it still does, but they didn't ship it yesterday but will ship it today. They gave me a lame excuse that "expected availability" does not necessarily mean that the movie is available. I didn't understand why it said "now" instead of "short wait". Customer service advised me to put more movies in my queue and I pointed out that according to this logic, no matter how many movies I have in my queue, "now" doesn't guarantee that I am going to get a movie. The agent said, "well I guess that is one way of looking at it."

I think they just dropped the ball.

Well I joined BB. Netflix site actually says Very Long Wait means you should receive it within about 30 days. How then do they explain I still haven't gotten Strangers, Leatherheads, or Incredible Hulk yet. Well over 60 days for each. Their service sucks balls. See ya.

Well....I am still getting 4 at a time and only paying for 3. I have had 4 at a time ever since my first post. I consider the new policy excellent service.

Blockbuster is where its at, because you can take your movies back and trade them in for movies in the store...helps knock out the que

Last thing in the world I want to do is drive there, wait in line, and deal with the sometimes "less than stellar" service. My Postal delivery guy hasnt missed a beat in 3 years and I live only 40 minutes from the Netflix distribution center, so turn-around time is immediate. I average over twenty flicks per month, bringing me in under .80 cents per rental. I am staying put.

Pfft ... good luck getting any new Blus unless you are lucky enough to be there when they open every Tuesday morning! AND forget about stores getting catalog titles in Blu, they don't even carry all the new releases in Blu.

I live less than a mile from one, and I love all the guys who work there. So it works for me

LOL!

I just meant the fact that they are cool and can recommend me good movies. I know its not good customer service but one day the lady was in front of me with In The Name Of The King, and the dude talked her out of it by explaining to her that its a B movie, and I was laughing so hard.

The store near me doesn't have any of these problems. It has a good selection of catalog titles (including Shooter during the format war) and a healthy stock of new releases all the time. I often go do my exchanges and then change my online queue immediately because I just got the stuff I wanted at the store.

The other bonus is that, if you return at the store, they log it as returned as soon as they scan it, so you don't have to wait an extra day or two for the distributor to receive it. This is good for me because my mailman sucks (and I would always opt for store return because I don't want him misplacing my stuff).

As others have said, it is indeed a new shipping policy. Here's where I first read about it:

I have been a member of Netflix for 3 years plus, and love em! Never have any real problems. And can now stream the movies on my other system (ahem)!

Did they scrap this policy because this hasn't happened for me yet.

So far for me Netflix has done an excellent job. I am also on the 3 movie plan. I send 3 movies back and within one day they send my next 3 out and they get to me fast! I have no complaints with them at all. Plus they always have in what I put in my movie que.

I dont really have any complaints with Netflix, there are periods of times when they send me the movies at the top of my list and times where they send everything from the bottom first...still waiting for Eagle Eye, Fred Claus, and some of the recent releases, but I just sit back and enjoy whatever I get.

It's weird but they shipped some movies to me yesterday (Saturday)
They usually never do that. Sucks because I had added some movies to be released on Tuesday to my queue but of course they shipped from down the queue.
