PlayStation 3 Sales Improving
Stringer notes flourishing European numbers.

December 11, 2007 - Gamedaily posted an article today regarding some rather good news for Sony. According to Sony Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Howard Stringer, the PS3 is now selling 200,000 consoles per week in Europe. He also notes that the system is selling 40,000 to 50,000 units per week in Japan.

Sony eventually hopes to tie in other Sony Entertainment elements to the PSN by introducing a video store sometime in the future. This will take advantage of Sony's own film studio, but will -- as Stringer notes -- be open to outsider content. These upcoming features, along with the impressive European sales, bode quite well for Sony and its products.

Europe: 200,000 x 4 = 800,000 per month
Japan: 50,000 x 4 = 200,000 per month

That's a million consoles per month!!! That doesn't even count North America.

Even if HD DVD is right and only 20% of PS3 owners use the Blu Ray feature on the system, that's 200,000 additional Blu Ray players per month.

If the unthinkable happens and HD-DVD does win, or the market is 50/50 in the US, it'll be like the "Standard Mesurements" vs "Metric" which is used by the rest of the world.

Europe has good taste when it comes to technology

But damn if those are not incredible numbers.

I just bought a PS3 in the last month (UK) and everyone is suitably impressed. Mind you I am demonstrating just about everything it can do.

Unfortunately they are more impressed with whats coming than whats already out (game wise).

Just bought uncharted and on chapter 13, enjoying it alot. Some people saying its the best graphics they have ever seen. We just need Divx, home, region free DVD playback, PVR and a few more excellent games.
