Thanks Sony for improving Remote Play!!!

Just updated my FW and holy smoke all that lobbying paid off. Sony listened!

Go under ‘Remote Play’ settings and now you can switch audio output from PSP to PS3, thereby enabling navigation and play of songs through the speakers without switching on the HDTV. Yes it works. I'm using it right now.

THANK YOU SONY FOR FINALLY ADDING THIS!!!!!!

These are very happy times indeed in PS3 and Blu-ray Land.

yeah i thought that was pretty cool too. sadly i can't get remote play to work away from my home network

cool... but I can't help but wonder why. I have to turn on my receiver and switch it to the PS3, so why not just turn on the tv and navigate that way?

oh well, to each their own. if it makes you guys happy than i am happy

My TV puts out some heat (not good in summer) and draws 250W. Also not ideal to put wear & tear on the display when all you're doing is listening to tunes ... (I have my CD collection ripped to an ext HDD plugged into the PS3 and use it a lot.)

I've devoted an old PSP (fat) just for use as a PS3 remote. Been using it frequently over the last couple days. It's a bit slower to respond than TV + BD remote due to the wifi connection but still usable.

So overjoyed about this I went and bought a Dualshock 3 and GT5 Prologue to celebrate.

Those who use projectors don't have to turn them on and waste their bulbs just to change songs. It is a great feature.

I had serious trouble yesterday with this. Re-register your PSP with your PS3 via USB. It will put your PSN details into your PSP so that you just add password. You also have to enable ALTRAC (or something like that) on your PS3 and in remote play options on your PS3 make sure your option for "remote turn on" is enabled as well. Eventually it worked, but it was well fussy. I'm not sure if upper case and lower case email addresses affect it, I just tried everything until it worked.
