But be advised that it won't include the story "Cabal" (aka Nightbreed). That was not originally published as part of Books of Blood volume 6 and is exclusive to the re-release (the book Cabal).

Well, if you're interested in a series rather than a stand-alone, "The Great and Secret Show" and its sequel "Everville" feature the character Harry D'Amour (from the movie Lord of Illusions). There's a third book being written called "The Scarlet Gospels" in which Harry battles Pinhead from Hellraiser/Hellbound Heart.
thanks for the books of blood link... do u know anything about the book i posted a link for above??

As far as I can tell, it's just a different edition of the same book. I believe this one is the bigger trade size as opposed to the smaller pocket size book.

Which is better for a first time reading?
Weaveworld is the only Clive Barker novel I've completely read, but it is an incredible book.

Imajica is a good read. Very long, though (800+ pages), and and it takes a little bit to get into it. It's more of a fantasy than horror.

The film version...Nightbreed was a great film...very dark, wicked...a cult classic of sorts and definately did not get the attention it deserved at the time. I absolutely adore it and wish they would re-release it, and yes..on Blu.

Lord of Illusions was a good film as well. The scenes with the cult is just a collection wicked visions altogether.

Hellraiser.....eh, whatever. I wasn't thrilled with the first one. I didn't really get into Hellraiser until the second film came out. When it dived into the asylum and Hell itself, it got interesting.
does he have another book based on part 2?

Isn't Clive Barker planning on putting out a new Hellraiser movie this year?

I liked his early books, Books Of Blood, Weaveworld. But then he kinda got all Stephen King-ish.

As for movies, Hellraiser was really the only decent movie of his work.

Sort of. There is a "remake" in the works that Barker is involved with, though he's not making it himself. And I put "remake" in quotes because supposedly it's not actually a retelling of the first movie, but a new story that ignores all the previous movies. A Batman Begins style reboot basically. I actually haven't read anything about the movie for some time. I'm not sure what the current status of the project is.

Barker is also writing a novel that is a sequel to "The Hellbound Heart", as well as his Harry D'Amour stories. It's called "The Scarlet Gospels" and is supposed to be Barker's official definitive final Hellraiser story, featuring the final fate of Pinhead. He said it ignores the movie sequels and is his own version of the story. No word on if they plan to turn it into a movie, but it certainly wouldn't suprise me.

Not sure what to say about the overtly gay stuff, as I never noticed those themes.
Oh, c'mon:
Evil "establishment" psychiatrists trying to "cure" our hero turning out to be loonies themselves?...
Subculture camaraderie among the "misfits" in persecuted exile?...
"You secretly envy us"?...

(...Granted, Clive's horror didn't improve after he publicly came Out, but it still fell into the general ruts you'd have expected if you knew at the time.)
