About 200/410 double dips, just under 50%.

And there are a few triple/quadruple dips in there aswell. Laserdisc/1st DVD/Spec.ed.DVD or Superbit/HDDVD/Bluray

Talking Depends....

I will admit that, even though I think my DVD's look great upconverted, and I swore that I would not double -dip....that I did for a few titles. Generally, I will only double dip if there is a great sale (ex: I picked up The Hunt for Red October and The Sum of All Fears for $12 each). As a general rule, I don't double dip unless there are some bangin' extras!!

And my double-dipped DVD's I am giving to my non-Blu-Ray family members.

Luckily I do have one the few "Movie Stops" in the country near me and so I am have been taking all of my old DVDs that I have since converted to BD for trade in. Movie Stop does give a decent value on trade-ins so I have been able to flip the old DVDs into new Blu!

It really depends on what title it is - I have sold some DVD's that I either plan to buy shortly on Blu-Ray, or know they are coming on Blu-Ray soon. Once I see a release date for a movie i'd double dip on, I sell the DVD.

26/77, so about .34 or one third. Not too bad really. I need to sell off a few of those DVDs though.

33% for me, but I've upgraded several films from laserdisc to Blu-ray, bypassing DVD. I also replaced a few discs that were review titles that I never paid for in the first place, so I didn't feel too bad getting them again.

Haha no, he meant converted as in exchanging his DVD collection to BD instead.

Downconverting sucks anyway. :P

That's a risk we all take when collecting an ever evolving format. I don't mind rebuying movies every 10 years.

I've double dipped a good third of mine but most were from laserdisc that I never got around to getting on dvd. It's very tempting to keep doing it since the quality of the older back titles has been so fantastic, and it makes it tough to watch them any other way. I can't even watch movies on cable channels anymore because I just nit pick how crappy the picture looks.

I have about 800 DVD's and so far, only 73 blu's. of those 73, I am guessing I have double dipped about 15 times. I do not plan on replacing all of those DVD's. Ugh! If it is a movie that I really like and will watch often, then yes, otherwise no. Besides, although Blu's are much better PQ and AQ, the DVD's are not horrible. For example, I was one of those who bought all of the Bond movies when they were released in the box sets a couple of years ago. I do not plan on re-buying them on Blu.

I have purchased very few DVD's in the past year (Since purchasing my Blu-ray player. I still purchase a few, like the Martin & Lewis collection which may never make it to Blu-ray.

Then there are the classic films that I will replace with Blu's when they are available, like Lawrence of Arabia and Ben Hur and films like that. I have already replaced Patton and the Longest Day and Close Encounters just to name a few. I am really ok with watching Alfred Hitchcock and John Wayne on DVD.

out of about 65, 40 or so are double dips from DVD

65 Blu-rays to 1,200 DVDs isn't too impressive though
