i'm actually seeing movies less and less in the theaters because i know the 30-40 bucks i'll spend at the theater could be spent on owning the BD and i'll own it. only see the big ones in the theater now.

Being that I have a limited genre pool of movies that I can tolerate - let alone like... I have to admit, Blu-ray has increased my like for movies in general.
I still cannot stand many types of movies, but the ones I can watch, I am enjoying them more and purchasing more of them.

Go Blu!

I never purchased any dvds, and I can not get enough Blu Ray. The movies are such a joy to watch in HD sound and picture, I find much more enjoyable then going to the show.

Same here! Before I started buying blu-ray's, I only had about 50 dvd's and since going BLU, I have about 200 blu-rays with a year! It took me years to get 50 and within a year I got 200 blu-rays!

Now I hate it when a Blockbuster associate offers me a dvd version when the blu-ray version is checked-out. Ever since I turned to blu-ray, I've been disgusted by the quality of dvd. I never accept dvds anymore. Sometimes I can see the jealousy in peoples hearts when someone buys blu-ray or an HDTV at any electronic retail store; especially Walmart and Blockbuster

I buy less movies now that I have transfered over to BD haha

Still go to the movies as much.

Once prices start coming down I will buy more though.

Likewise. With one exception. I do a blind buy once in a while. However if I don't like the movie I sell it off on ebay.

Totally feel the same way! Been telling my sister and brother and law the exact same thing this week.

I have over 100 DVD's of movies I've loved. But, I've barely every watched them more than a few times. With blu, I've already watched my movies a few times each! I mean I netflixed Hancock and watched that 3 times and just bought it along with Close Encounters and The Descent. Took advantage of Circuit City's 20% off and they ended up cheaper than tower's pricing.

I mean, when I first upgraded and popped in 300 and iRobot I couldn't even sit down to watch them, I just stood there in front of the TV in awe with my mouth hitting the floor!

For me it's a combination of getting a new tv the 52 XBR4 and viewing them the way they were intended so large and widescreen. Plus the sound is incredible and the picture is sick!

I'm so much more into movies it's crazy! Not to mention playing games in high def on the PS3 so large is killer!

In fact I just popped in Jurassic Park 1 and 2 this past week. Upscaled looks good, not quite blu but good. But dam the sound just sounds lame now after hearing the uncompressed blu's audio! Cannot wait for those movies to come out on blu!

I'm addicted!

I love movies and I like to collect them so I'm not sure blu-ray has changed that any. I bought a lot of DVDs and I'm buying lots of blu-rays. I will say it has made me pretty intolerant of standard-def material though and to a lesser extent, even some of the HD content on cable.

As far as the theater, I stopped going a couple of years or so ago (got tired of the cell phone epidemic) and thought I'd really miss that but blu-ray has definitely filled that spot. I don't even miss it but I think part of that was that blu-ray got me to upgrade the rest of my HT system. So, I'm much more satisfied with it now as well.

I had a wall full of VHS, and a wall full of DVDs . Chances are someday I'll have a wall full of the next format to come along too.

My girlfriend comes over 3-4 times a week and the first thing she does is ask me if I've bought any new BD's. She's a major movie fan and has a Sh!tload of DVD's, but she is just amazed by the Blu-ray versions of many of the movies she has.

She was really lucky last night as I had just received my newest shipment from amazon.ca (Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, Batman Begins). I know it's easy, but please try to refrain yourself from what I left myself open to!

Good pull on an old thread

I am at the tipping point (or just over it) for blu-ray's vs. DVD's. i.e. I think I have more blu's now than when the height of DVD ownership. Having a great system to watch them on makes the expense easily justifiable. before I had surround sound, I had 2 or 3 DVD's. HTiB bumped that up considerably over the next 8 years.

In 18 months of blu, I upgraded my system at the point where the flood gates opened and Warner went blu. That and i got in early enough to take advantage of a TON of BOGO's. I'm a bit more selective with my choices, but the collection grows!

Nothing has changed. My love for film is the same. Blu-ray offers the best medium for displaying film at the moment, so I dig it.
