BTW, where are we at on the remake schedule?
FF 1&2 - PSP, GBA, PSone
FF 3 - DS
FF 4 - DS(soon), GBA, PSone
FF 5 - GBA
FF 6 - ???
FF 7 - PS3 (wishful thinking )

I'd like to see just an updated port of FF 8 on the PSP
FF6 was remade for the ps1, standalone in europe, bundled with Crono Trigger in the states.

FFXIII is the spiritual sequel of FFVIII, so if you liked FFVIII....

Playing FFI,II,III,IV,V,VI,VII,IX is possible on the psp if you know how, and theres always the odd chance that they maybe released to the PS Store closer to the release of Thirteen.

Actually, Chrono Trigger was bundled with FFIV in the states...... I remember, because I was jipped and didn't get it

Ended up playing a ROM of CT last summer. One of the best RPGs of all time, highly recommended.

you missed;
+ cool new cut scenes
+ Glossary feature
- annoying loading times between battles.

Maybe it will fair better running on a ps3/ps2/psp with quick loading on though, alas it was never legally released here, so i cant tell you now.

Tried playing VIII but I guess I just had too many other games going on at the time. Have a copy laying around, just way to into COD4 to play it haha.

Burnt armpit.

edit:

Nomura says Dissidia is half finished

update:

All the recent pics here and apparently in the latest Famitsu Tetsuya Nomura said the game would retain some RPG gameplay and a release date (for Japan presumably) will be announced at the 'SQUARE ENIX Presents DKΣ3713 Private Party 2008' on the 2nd and 3rd of August.

They've got a gameplay video from each of the four Final Fantasy's covered so far. I guess every primary FF hero and baddie from I-XII will be in the game. Maybe more than one of each from the more popular games.

Just a guess, we've already seen Sephiroth, Tidus, Jecht and more I think so that's VII and X. Every fighting game needs plenty of characters!

Squall vs Sephiroth

Dengeki PlayStation interview with producer Tetsuya Nomura, senior director Takeshi Arakawa and planning director Mitsunori Takahashi.

Quote:
Takahashi: We've currently revealed about 20% of Dissidia as a whole. Aside from the battle system, there are a lot of elements that haven't been shown. I think fans who have played the Final Fantasy series will be comfortable with them.

Takahashi: The original games are RPGs, so conceptually we're aiming for "Action-RPG plus competitive fighting," with the balance being half action and half RPG.
