Ok so I played it for an hour or so last night and I'm having lots of fun. It's not scarey yet but I think I'll get more out of it if I can turn the lights out. It's way better than the PS3 version of the 1st FEAR. I had to slow down the sensativity a little because whenever I tried to aim I would inadvertantly overshoot my target every time unless I was zoomed. It helped.

Not sure why some folks are saying the graphics suck. They are fantastic. The backgrounds respond when you shoot them; things like soda machines or windows. The AI is pretty good too. They move around from cover to cover so it can be tricky to get a bead on them.

So far I love it. Not as fun as Resistance 2 but still a game worth owning if you like shooters. I prefer the sci-fi theme over horror and I prefer horror over WWII themes or other normal military themes so I'm happy.

Serious? That's part of the fun for me. I was playing last night after midnight with headphones and the lights off. I could hear all the eerie details and "whispering" in the background and at one point had to take off the headphones to make sure it was the game. Creepy.

I hate to say it, but I think the graphics hating is because of the "grainy" look vs. a cleaner/sharper look. It looks great to me, and I think it's perfect for the atmosphere/theme of the game.

There were a few times that I had to look over my shoulder just to make sure.

I really enjoy the game though, but I am also playing on the PC and thought the graphics were quite nice.

I must say I didn't notice a grainy look. I did notice that the game is quite dark so it's hard to see at times but I figured it's supposed to be scarey. I bet the game looks better when played in the dark.

For reference I have a 47" TV and I sit about 10' back.

That's why I play it in the dark. Same for Dead Space. It really helps immerse me into the game. Not only can I see better since there's zero ambient light, but it also sets the mood.

Alright it's getting a little scarier. I think the scariest parts are when you go for what seems a while with no enemies attacking because you're just waiting for them to jump out and they never do!

Anyway, I'm stuck at the first elite mech. I know you're supposed to hit it with a shock grenade or transformer and I can get it to hunch over while being electricuted but I'm not sure what part I'm supposed to shoot. It looks like it has a force shield. When it is being electrocuted it only last for 3 or maybe 4 seconds so there's not enough time to get behind it.

I'm really liking the game so far... I've only played thru the second level, but it's pretty fun... Not too scary yet though.

I think I used about
[Show spoiler]6 or 7 missiles
on the elite suit.
[Show spoiler]Don't worry about the shield thing just take it down with shock grenades and missiles. Make sure you're behind cover where you can duck out of the way, time a shock grenade, then quickly pop up and toss the grenade then fire off 3 or 4 missile shots. Repeat, and that should be it (I'm playing on Normal skill). I didn't bother with the transformer and only used 2 shock grenades + missiles.

Anyone get to the
[Show spoiler]school
yet? There's a really
[Show spoiler]creepy hallway with lots of ghosts running around.
Definitely the creepiest part of the game so far.

If you want scary play Dead Space in the dark with the sound up, I dare you.
On topic: F.E.A.R. 2 is even better than the first. I am just out into the city streets and the pucker factor is going up. I love that you can make your own cover in the firefights this game is sweet.

I didn't know you could get missiles! Am I supposed to grab it from the dude that kills the first Mech when I walk into that area? I never thought of that. Shoot!

I already had the missile launcher before I got to the Elite Mech. If you don't have it,
[Show spoiler]as soon as you drop down through the hole to the area where you fight the Elite Mech, if I recall there should be a missile launcher straight ahead next to a health pack and other goodies right before the opening to the street. I don' know for sure if this is dropped by the guy who takes out the first mech (it might be) but there was one there waiting for me. And since I already had the missile launcher this was just additional ammo for me.

Besides the once every few hours appearance of the girl and a few ghosts this game is so repetitive I sold away the first copy without even thinking about it. What's so good about killing the same heads over and over again, with the same lecturing they keep spitting out, FLASHLIGHT! HE's OVER THERE! GET HIM! LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL get a life, I'm not buying this game again, tried the demo was the same as the first game/

I was surprised with how much I enjoyed the demo so I bought the game and I'm currently enjoying the ride! Definitely play this game in the dark! That's the thrill w/HD gaming imo. Bioshock was the 1st game I played on my 7.1 system and that game had the hair on the back of my neck standing up! FEAR 2 is right there too with all the surround noise, ghosts and Alma messing around with you. So far so good for me!
