Anyways, Can't wait for The Avengers to hit
There is absolutely no way that The Avengers has more hype around it than the LAST part to the Harry Potter franchise. If anything does move, it will most definitely be The Avengers. It will not come anywhere near making as much money as Harry Potter. Globally (arguably as well as nationally), Harry Potter definitely has a much larger fanbase. As someone stated, The Avengers has to build an audience first, this is the last part to the Harry Potter franchise.

I find it funny that the Potter fans dismiss the Avengers so easily. Many are saying it has to build it's base. It's already started that. Granted Potter does make a lot of money ($4.4 Billion worldwide ), but there's something to be said for Marvel's strategy as well.

Think about it a second. The Avengers is part 6 of the series.

Iron Man
Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 2
Thor
Captain America
Avengers

Each one building to the team up of all the characters together. If Iron Man did much better numbers than Batman Begins, then what's to say the sequel can't come somewhat close to Dark Knight numbers?

Vs.

Yeah, I figure Marvel will flinch first, but I'm just trying to play devils advocate.

Looks like Marvel blinked first.

Yeah, this seems different than blinking first. This is an actual delay having nothing to do with Harry Potter. It makes sense from a financial standpoint as well as possibly over saturating the market with superhero movies. I still think it would have made more sense to have 2 movies in 2010 and 2 in 2011 rather than 3 in 2011 but there also could have been some concerns about hurrying Thor since it isn't even filming yet and doesn't have a cast.

Am I the only one who thinks "The Avengers" seems like a really dumb idea.
I mean come on, this will be worse then Spiderman 3.

I don't particularly care for Harry Potter either though.

If iron man 2, thor, and capt. America do close to what iron man did money wise (thor is the only one up in the air as far as I’m concerned), and are just as entertaining and well written, the avengers movie will be just as good if not better than all of the ones before it.
