Not sure if anyone's been watching the episodes, but the show is currently wrapping up Season 4. Currently airing today and tomorrow are two of the best episodes of the season (albeit the most twisted). They're the two part "In the Mirror, Darkly" episodes that paint a dark and twisted picture of the Starfleet "Empire". Even the opening credits were different.

I also liked the variation they did of the the First Contact scene where Cochrane meets the Vulcans for the first time. Too funny!

I think every Star Trek show has done the alternate universe, but I really liked how Enterprise did it.

Anyone else see these?

I'm waiting for these on BD. Sky over here in the UK showed them a long time ago in HD, but hasn't repeated them in HD since.

As for viewing figures... I can only speak on the UK situation. On terrestrial TV all Star Treks were shown on the BBC. You could usually pick them up on BBC2 after 18:00 on a weekday if you didn't fancy watching the News on BBC1 or ITV. Enterprise was snatched by Channel 4 and shown in a "Yoof" orientated graveyard slot on a Sunday afternoon.

As for the series... I liked it. The best thing I liked about it was that there was non of this "ships counsellor" nonsense. Every episode of TNG, I was wishing that Picard would direct Troy to the nearest airlock"

Thankfully, in the later seasons, she was removed from the bridge.

I haven't watched the Next Generation in a while, granted, but if I recall correctly, wasn't she always sitting next to Picard on the bridge, in those early episodes while in the later ones, she worked out of her office?

The Episode in season 7 "Thine Own Self" she took the bridge officers test and obtained the rank of Commander.

Thanks for that.

Anyway, back on topic, the second part of the "In The Mirror, Darkly" episode that airs on Friday is definitely worth watching. If you haven't already seen it, I don't want to spoil the surprise. But it'll definitely make you feel nostalgic for Star Trek TOS.

look... i've been a star trek fan since i can remember.. first kirk, then picard, then janeway and finally archer. never cared for ds9 at all must say, tried watching it multiple times, just couldnt get into it. anyhow, back on topic, i think each series has its own positives... kirk with the original throwback style, then picard with his refined ways, voyager in another galaxy and archer at the beginning of the journey.. i have to say, despite coming upon it last.. enterprise is my favorite of all! i LOVE the way they bring everything together and how the explain how so many things came to be in ST. i was very very sad the show was cancelled. i think true fans of ST should have appreciated it for what it was... which was totally brilliant ideas, such original story lines, amazing graphics, captivating characters and best of all... it was like a journey back in time, before picard, kirk there was archer. the premise/ background for this series was the most creative of any ST show i had seen since some of the voyager episodes. just some examples of what i'm talking about are the storys behind:
the zindi
the expanse
first contact w/ romulins, clingons
temperal cold war
first contact: the real story

i wil be a definate buyer of this one on blu. i own all the star treks, but will only upgrade this one cuz its my fav. just my humble 2 cents

Nicely said. Enterprise looks great in HD and watching them the last few weeks has made me miss the show that much more. These will look excellent on BD when they come out too. As I recall, these were actually shot for HD.

And you're right, some of those storylines were fantastic. They took a huge chance by making that Xindi storyline last an entire season, but the results were worth it.

Speaking of storylines, I was always kinda hoping they would have made a Star Trek series that took place in the Alternate Universe. That would have made for some interesting storytelling.

The graphics hold up surprising well on the show. It looks better than more recent shows and even holds up in high-definition for the most part.

Some of the best DS9 shows had to do with the Dominion War. Those last 4 seasons were excellent.

Enterprise has just started it's season 1 run again. It's amazing how well this show holds up at 8 years. I really wish they'd create a new Star Trek series.

I still say the Mirror Darkly Universe would have made a good show on its own. It even had its own theme music:

Programming notes:

The Season One finale (Shockwave part one) airs today at 2PM est. Tomorrow is the season 2 premiere, followed by the episode Carbon Creek (Vulcans on Earth in the 1950's, including one of T'Pol's ancestors, living in a mining town in Pennsylvania after their ship crashes).

Actually, the episodes airing this week are excellent, including Mine Field (where the Enterprise gets trapped in a Romulan mine field and Reed is stuck to the hull by one of the mines). This is followed by Dead Stop (The Enterprise encounters an unmanned but very sophisticated repair station).
