Ever since I switched to Blu-Ray from Netflix I have the same problem. Forgetting Sarah Marshall has been listed as a very long wait for several weeks now.

I have a lot of new releases all piled up at the top and most of them have a wait attached to them. I don't have too much of a problem getting them in decent time.

I got rid of both my netflix and blockbuster online, and now I do the Blockbuster Total Access...$24/month and unlimited everything, BD, DVD, ps3 games and all. The only thing is the in-store selection sucks

I've used Blockbuster for 5 months, and Netflix for about a year and half. Not once did I ever receive the number one movie in my queue from Blockbuster, so if I wanted a movie, I would make sure to put it number two on my list. However, Netflix it is now taking a week or longer to get another movie from Netflix, so I think I might be going back to Blockbuster.

I added it to my Q back in May and it has been on the top 5 of my Q forever now. Are they serious? What does it take to get these Blu-rays on the day they are released (they will ship my next film tomorrow)? Who gets these releases then since every new disk on Blu has some sort of a wait on it (short, long, very long)? Is anyone PISSED off as much as I am? I am loving the Mac-enabled Instant watching, but I just do not get the deal with new releases. Ps, its the netflix from phoenix, AZ.

The newest Subscribers to Netflix and Blockbuster get the movies right away and you get bumped down on the list since you have had service the longest. People who have had service the longest are normally "HOOKED". The new subscribers can cancel after the 1st month if they are not satisfied so they get 1st grabs @ new movies. I think this is total shit but this is why it happens

Yep they both do this. I switched from Netflix after 7 years to Blockbuster earlier this year because of the crappy blu service. Then with Blockbuster I got everything because I was new for over a month then all of a suddent nothing. So I have been back at Netflix since. Has been decent a couple of waits like almost 2 months for 21 but for the most part has been good till last week. I got 3 movies back to them on Monday and they screwed me and skipped over both the Strangers and Incredible Hulk. Both now say very long wait so I guess it will be 2+ months before I get those now. Bastards. I did get Get Smart though. Arrived today.

I recommend it. Love being able to watch a movie in the evening then exchange it on my way home from work. Or rent a game, play it for 30 minutes before deciding I don't like it, then exchanging it for a blu-ray

You are assuming the reason you are on any kind of wait is because they don't have enough product for all the people who have the movie queued. While this may be the case sometimes, Netflix has publically acknowledged that they do throttling on new releases for customers.

Newer customers get priority over older customers on new releases to keep them satisfied with the service. There is also a factor in the algorithm about what percentage of your queue and rental history is new releases versus catalog, etc.

Search the net for some specifics but they definately throttle people and that is probably the problem you are running into moreso than lack of supply.

Also sometimes those statuses mean nothing. I had something on very long wait that got shipped out with my next group. Other things that said short wait that took forever to get.

Anyone who's a little frustrated with Netflix, like me, should check out hackingnetflix.com for a few helpful hints. Won't improve your service greatly, but a little.

I am looking at Blockbuster though. To the other posters on this thread, can you tell me where to find details of the Total Access plan for 24.99 which includes games as I can only find details of the 19.99 plan that doesn't mention games at all.

The one I am on is in-store only, not online. It was offered to me when the clerk noticed I was renting a blu-ray and a game at the same time. It might be a YMMV kind of thing too. He said it was for a limited time only, but I think that was BS. Typically the in-store total access plan is $23.99 for movies OR games, not both. Might just want to go in and ask, maybe they can hook you up.

?? I don't know what you're getting at.

If you actually check out the site, it's not about a literal hack in the computer sense... but a way to do things differently so you can get the most out of your service.

Yes, the extra charge on Blu-rays from Netflix pissed me off a bit, but got over it. Another thing is that Batman Begins has been "Very Long Wait" since it came out in July and it still is. I have been observing that it is difficult to get the new releases in time. But since I have a lot of titles in my Q I just put the ones that are available first and the waiting ones a little later, sometimes in about a week or less you can get them. I've had a few shipping problems with them but nothing serious yet.
