Default Netflix increasing monthly Blu-ray rentals by $4 (POLL ADDED)

Okay, so they have charged us Blu-rayers an additional $1 a month because it's more "expensive"...I get that...but with more money, you should be able to BUY more. Then why is it that I have had Get Smart and many just re-leased blu-ray disks in my Q for months now and it is #1 on my Q and it still says Short Wait on there? I added it to my Q back in May and it has been on the top 5 of my Q forever now. Are they serious? What does it take to get these Blu-rays on the day they are released (they will ship my next film tomorrow)? Who gets these releases then since every new disk on Blu has some sort of a wait on it (short, long, very long)? Is anyone PISSED off as much as I am? I am loving the Mac-enabled Instant watching, but I just do not get the deal with new releases. Ps, its the netflix from phoenix, AZ.

Yeah, I have been a member of both as well, and I think I prefer Blockbuster. I usually can put a Blu-ray in my queue that is releasing on a Tuesday and I'll usally get it shipped that day or the day before. Also, my local Blockbuster has an amazing selection of new release Blu-rays, so that helps too.

How long you have had a movie in your queue means nothing at all.

Well it has worked out for me that way for the past two years...it just worked out that way most of the time...but apparently you are right.

I figured it would matter that members requests for new releases might be ranked in some way according to how long it had been in their queue...

So, if you and wanted the same new movie but it had been in my queue longer...I would get first dips.

Unfortunately, I have spoken with several people at Neflix and that is sadly not the case. It does not matter how long it has been in your queue.

i have the opposite reaction.

i have both blockbuster online and netflix and almost EVERYTHING on blockbuster is always short wait or unavailable. i can barely ever get movies on there due to it. the only reason i keep it is to get the 3 free movies in-store each week.

netflix however ALMOST always has everything on my list. Never had a problem with them.

its definitely aggravating when you want a damn movie right away and you see that Short Wait next to it. I know a friend of mine has had Feast 2 on his queue at netflix since it came out and its still Short Wait. I guess ive just gotten lucky with them so far. Though there are movies i want that they still have in their SAVED section even though i know the dvd has been released such as Jess Franco's BLOODY MOON.

When did they start to charge the extra $1?
I just got billed again and its the same amount as usual!

My Blu-ray rentals have gotten in a lot faster these past 2 months though.
Sure sometimes they still show long or short wait, but it doesn't nearly take as long as it did like 6-8 months ago.

I always try to have at least 50 movies (currently bit more than 100) in my queue, so I can switch and mix them up a bit... Netflix definitely has a way better selection of movies. I've only experienced trouble 3 months ago when I had a bunch of broken discs, but they took care of it and gave me extra rentals. The occasional wait is not too bad. Once in a while I have to wait for a movie when it is being send from the US mainland which can take about 3-4 days to get here (mostly happens with older or foreign titles that might not be very popular over here).
I've had a lot of trouble with Blockbuster though, don't even know where to start...

I think timing is a big factor. I put Get Smart on my queue 2 days ago and they shipped it today because they received one of my last movies on Monday. So if you can get a movie to them on Monday before new release Tuesday, you're usually good to go.

This method has worked for Incredible Hulk and Iron Man also.

I did get lucky and the short wait for The Strangers was lifted just in time for Halloween.

Sorry to hear, but I've never had this problem. The only time I have to wait is if I don't move it to the top of my Que the Monday before it releases for me to receive it on release day. I didn't do this with Vantage Point and I have been waiting on it for about 3 months now and still shows a long wait. I think a lot of it has to do with "first come first serve" whoever puts in their que first gets it first. I'm very happy with Netflix and will continue to use them.

This will start with your November payment for December. You should have received an e-mail from them.

I'm still waiting for Oldboy, I've had in my Q for months. But, other that and maybe one other occasion, my Netflix experience has been fairly smooth.

I have been a member of Netflix for several years, and have many problems with getting new releases, for awhile as long as I mailed my movies on Saturdays, they got them Monday and that always secured my Tuesday new releases to be arrived that day, now however, I never get the new releases. I actually just cancelled, cause frankly i'm tired of it all, and for the most part i just buy movies, don't rent em.

This is how I get new releases on tuesday all the time. I'm on 4 at a time plan and have at least 1-3 new releases each and every week. If they are in the mail before 12pm on Sat and the P.O. box they are going to is in the same state it should reach them on monday.

You will be a happy =]. One of my favorites.

I quit Netflix. They were great but I'm a collector so I buy instead of rent.

I guess it all depends on your area. Some departments may have a bigger collection and variety than others. When I rented from Netflix with the free promotion code, I got my new releases right away without any hassle. Like I said, depends on area.
