Wow! I agree in a way though. It's just sad to see it end.

Haha I am very very surprised it seemed to last so long, I gave up watching mid way through season 2 realizing it was just rehashing the previous season and didn't even realize it was still on till about 6 weeks ago when I read it here. Glad to know that it's ending though, the actors might as well go on to something better and get back to films. Have they even made any since the show started?

Robert Knepper/T Bag has been in Transporter 3 and Hitman. Amaury Nolasco/Sucre has been in Transformers, Street Kings and Max Payne. Other than those two I don't believe anyone has made a decent movie since it started.

I haven't heard anything in a few months but I believe they said if it was picked up it would be a mid-season replacement. I'll look into it, wasn't it on NBC??

The one thing I have found to constantly be a let down about Southland is all of the commercials leading up to premiere had you believe this show is focused on Ben and Cooper. Yet, the show seems to focus the very most on Adams, with Ben and Cooper only making 3 minute appearances if anything. I didn't know it was a going to focus on everybody, and I just found the commercials to be very misleading. And another major bummer, is the 7 episode first season! Thursday is the damned finale already!

Was updated to say Terminator is cancelled officially. Don't know why, but part of me still had hope. I mean, Dollhouse had WORSE ratings! Ugh. It's only because Fox makes the show, I think, that and they owe Joss Whedon after Firefly. Too bad that show was a lot better than Dollhouse.

Looks like Without a Trace has been canceled. A bit surprising since it is still a top 20 show with over 12 million viewers, but it's already had 7 seasons and the costs associated with a show of that age are very high, and apparently they couldn't agree on a budget cut.

Some surprises on NBC's fall lineup. Chuck will stick with it's Monday 8/7 central time slot but not premiere until February. Medium was canceled, despite reports last week that said it was renewed. Ausiello says CBS, which produces the show will likely pick it up. My Name is Earl was canceled, but may be picked up by Fox (show's producer) or ABC. Most disappointing to me is that Friday Night Lights 4th season won't begin until summer 2010. Heroes will premier in the fall and air 19 consecutive new episodes in the 8/7 central slot. Also, CBS officially canceled The Unit, and it isn't likely to be picked up by another network.

Default It's here! The 2009-2010 fall schedule

All the networks have unwrapped their fall schedules, and there are plenty of surprises. Check out which shows will be going up against each other!

Monday

Mondays won't look too different from last season, with the only significant changes being ABC expanding Dancing With the Stars to two hours, Fox's Lie to Me following House, and CBS swapping a pair of comedies. CBS made the decision to create a strong block with Two and a Half Men and Big Bang Theory. In experiments putting the two shows back-to-back last year, numbers were way up for Big Bang, and the network hopes to make this hit as big as Two and a Half Men. ABC is stoked that Castle's only real competition in the 10:00 hour is CSI: Miami--it should translate into a ratings jump for Castle and our beloved Nathan Fillion. This is just a guess, but neither of the two new scripted shows (CBS' Jenna Elfman comedy Accidentally on Purpose and NBC's drama Trauma) looks to make much of an impact on this night. Mondays should belong to ABC thanks to the strength of Dancing With the Stars.

8:00 - 9:00 p.m.
ABC Dancing with the Stars (performances)
CBS How I Met Your Mother (new time) / *Accidentally on Purpose
Fox House
NBC Heroes (new time)
CW Gossip Girl

9:00 - 10:00 p.m.
ABC Dancing with the Stars (performances-continued)
CBS Two and a Half Men / The Big Bang Theory (new time)
Fox Lie to Me (new time)
NBC *Trauma
CW One Tree Hill

10:00 - 11:00 p.m.
ABC Castle
CBS CSI: Miami
Fox Local Programming
NBC *The Jay Leno Show
CW Local Programming

Tuesday

Do you like stuff? Do you like that same stuff twice? Well so do networks on Tuesday nights. ABC is doing two hours of reality, Fox is doing two hours of dancing, CBS is doing two hours of NCIS, NBC is doing two hours of Biggest Loser, and The CW is doing two hours of '90s show remakes. Boooooring. Fox is hoping that So You Think You Can Dance will hold the fort down until American Idol returns, but how much dancing can people take with Dancing With the Stars also running? On the other hand, doubling up should work well for CBS--people can't seem to get enough NCIS, and the new LA-based spinoff should do more than just fine (LL in the house!). However, without options, Tuesday may be a good night to catch up on DVR'd shows. We expect this night to go back and forth between CBS and Fox, and we wouldn't be surprised if this schedule sees changes early to spice things up.

8:00 - 9:00 p.m.
ABC *Shark Tank
CBS NCIS
Fox So You Think You Can Dance (performances)
NBC The Biggest Loser
CW 90210

9:00 - 10:00 p.m.
ABC Dancing with the Stars (results)
CBS *NCIS: Los Angeles
Fox So You Think You Can Dance (performances)
NBC The Biggest Loser
CW *Melrose Place

10:00 - 11:00 p.m.
ABC *The Forgotten
CBS *The Good Wife
Fox Local Programming
NBC *The Jay Leno Show
CW Local Programming

Wednesday

Now things are getting interesting. ABC is taking a huge risk with FIVE new programs on this evening, including four comedies. Our early review of Modern Family: hilarious--it has a splash of Arrested Development and the best bits of Christopher Guest's mockumentaries (plus there's a great twist at the end of the pilot). But it seems mismatched with the other three. Parenthood could be a sleeper hit thanks to its stellar cast, but it will be going against the most-hyped new show of the season in Glee. ABC's bewitching Eastwick has a chance to survive in the 10:00 hour given its only competition is CSI: NY. So far, this seems like the most wide open night of the week and a great opportunity for any network to take.

8:00 - 9:00 p.m.
ABC *Hank / *The Middle
CBS New Adventures of Old Christine / Gary Unmarried
Fox So You Think You Can Dance (results)
NBC *Parenthood
CW America's Next Top Model

9:00 - 10:00 p.m.
ABC *Modern Family / *Cougar Town
CBS Criminal Minds
Fox *Glee
NBC Law & Order: Special Victims Unit
CW *The Beautiful Life

10:00 - 11:00 p.m.
ABC *Eastwick
CBS CSI: NY
Fox Local Programming
NBC *The Jay Leno Show
CW Local Programming

Thursday

Thursdays shall heretofore be known as "Bloodbath Thursdays" or "The Night of Exploding DVRs"--it's packed with all sorts of goodness. Flash Forward is badly mismatched with Grey's Anatomy, but we think it will get off to a quick start--it's just a matter of holding its audience. Fringe moves into Thursdays at 9 to battle Grey's, CSI, The Office, and Supernatural, but the biggest move on this night was by CBS. Moving The Mentalist behind CSI forms a CBS superblock on the most competitive night of television. NBC's comedy block gets MUCH stronger with Kath & Kim replaced by the very good-looking Community. Even with all this competition, CBS looks like the winner here, but not without taking a serious hit. And once again, Supernatural will still go sorely underwatched. If a show looks to have a chance to breakout, don't be surprised if it gets moved over to Wednesdays.

8:00 - 9:00 p.m.
ABC *Flash Forward
CBS Survivor
Fox Bones
NBC *SNL Weekend Update Thursday / Parks and Recreation
CW *The Vampire Diaries

9:00 - 10:00 p.m.
ABC Grey's Anatomy
CBS CSI
Fox Fringe (new time)
NBC The Office / *Community (moves to 8 p.m. after SNL run)
CW Supernatural

10:00 - 11:00 p.m.
ABC Private Practice
CBS The Mentalist (new time)
Fox Local Programming
NBC *The Jay Leno Show
CW Local Programming

Friday

Several days later, it's still shocking to see Dollhouse on the schedule. But Fox likes what Joss Whedon laid out for the show's second season and is giving it a chance. Its reward? Going up against some new competition. With CW giving up Sundays and NBC launching its Jay Leno primetime show, the Friday landscape changes drastically. Ugly Betty, Medium (now on CBS), Southland, and Smallville all now call Friday home, creating an interesting night on what is usually a TV graveyard. This is another evening totally up for grabs, but will likely be dominated by DVRs.

8:00 - 9:00 p.m.
ABC Supernanny
CBS Ghost Whisperer
Fox *Brothers / 'Til Death (new time)
NBC Law & Order
CW Smallville (new time)

9:00 - 10:00 p.m.
ABC Ugly Betty (new time)
CBS Medium (new time)
Fox Dollhouse
NBC Southland (new time)
CW Undecided

10:00 - 11:00 p.m.
ABC 20/20
CBS Numb3rs
Fox Local Programming
NBC *The Jay Leno Show
CW Local Programming

Sunday

Animation Domination versus Amazin Racin' versus Extreme Home Makeoverin'--that's Sundays for ya. ABC typically wins this night thanks to Desperate Housewives, but things could change here. The big wild card: CBS' organ-transplant drama Three Rivers. Housewives has been tapering off, and Three Rivers could steal some of its audience thanks to hunky Alex O'Loughlin, best known from his days on Moonlight. With The Amazing Race continuing to be steady, it looks like CBS could upset the balance here. We'll take CBS by a nose on Sundays in a changing of the guard.

8:00 - 9:00 p.m.
ABC Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
CBS The Amazing Race
Fox The Simpsons / *The Cleveland Show
NBC NBC Sunday Night Football (Eastern Time)
CW Local Programming

9:00 - 10:00 p.m.
ABC Desperate Housewives
CBS *Three Rivers
Fox Family Guy / American Dad!
NBC NBC Sunday Night Football (Eastern Time)
CW Local Programming

10:00 - 11:00 p.m.
ABC Brothers & Sisters
CBS Cold Case
Fox Local Programming
NBC NBC Sunday Night Football (Eastern Time)
CW Local Programming

NEW YORK CITY--CBS spoke about its fall schedule with reporters this morning, and it once again attempted to debunk the myth that it only attracts old people. As CBS CEO Les Moonves would later say at the network's presentation to advertisers, "Who says we're not sexy?"

Eye sees dead people

Whispering to ghosts, communicating with the dead--the only thing missing from CBS' new fall Friday lineup is a mentalist. That would have completed the Eye network's sixth-sense trifecta on Friday nights, but alas, Numb3rs is staying put at 10 p.m. Fridays and The Mentalist (starring Simon Baker as a "mentalist" who's not a real mind-reader anyway) will be moving to Thursday nights from Tuesdays.

It was a significant (even unpredictable) move, since The Mentalist was the highest-rated new series on network TV this past season. Usually, such shows remain in place, in order to build a lead-in audience for a new show in the following time period. This time, CBS felt it would simply strengthen its Thursday slate.

"We're going to take a show that was the number-one new show this year, pair it with the number-one drama on TV [CSI at 9] and really try to make a super block," CBS programming exec Kelly Kahl told reporters at CBS headquarters.

CBS, like ABC, sees all kinds of opportunities for dramas at 10 because of Jay Leno's new nightly 10 o'clock show on NBC. That leaves only Private Practice on ABC to face The Mentalist on Thursdays next fall.

CBS's head of programming, Nina Tassler, explained why CBS picked up Medium from NBC. "It's got a similar sensibility to Ghost Whisperer, but it's got a crime-solving element," she said. "So if Ghost Whisperer and Numb3rs had an off-spring, it would be Medium!"

Young people love aging rapper: CBS exec

Real or imagined, CBS has long had a reputation for drawing the oldest viewers in the network television business. As usual, CBS execs announced their intention to "get younger." And how will they do that? With a new spinoff of NCIS called NCIS: Los Angeles, starring Chris O'Donnell and LL Cool J.

"I think, LL Cool J you can't deny has a younger appeal," CBS's Nina Tassler she said of the rapper turned actor, 41, who first came to prominence way back in 1985 with his first hip-hop hit, "I Can't Live Without My Radio."

Later in the day, LL actually took the stage at Carnegie Hall during CBS' presentation to advertisers, and performed a knockout rendition of "Mama Said Knock You Out." The song is 19-years old (it was released in 1990), but at 41, LL's still got it going on.

Tassler's also excited about Alex O'Loughlin, as are many other women, she said of the former star of the vampire series Moonlight on CBS. O'Loughlin is starring in a new Sunday hospital drama for CBS, Three Rivers, about a transplant facility in Pittsburgh. "Alex has a huge broad appeal," Tassler said. "We know from the demos back then, the viewers who responded when he was on our network last time, that's a very robust, youthful, female audience."
