Went to the 10:15 showing last night in a Cinemark XD3 theater in Plano Tx, picture and sound are impressive, about 99% full, the theater hold over 500 audience and a big applause at the the end. I may have to see it again this week.

Went to the movie last night at 8:15 and it was about 90% full. Got there early to get good seats. The movie itself is really awesome. As someone who remembers watching the original series when it was on in the 60's this movie really hit all the right notes. It does a great job of setting up and introducing each of the main characters. The Trek humor was in full force that had me chuckling throughout the movie. The story actually plays secondary to the characters and really sets this up for further movies. My theater also clapped when it is over which you do not see too often in movies. I can only hope it does well at the box office so they can make many more Trek movies. This was an ingenious idea of bring back Star Trek by going back to it roots and learning about the characters when they first met and their first missions. If you haven't seen it I would highly recommend going. You do not even need to be a Trekie to enjoy it. My two young children loved it and they do not know Star Trek at all. Big thumps up from me.

**Hi I am Jagster's daughter. He is right you don't have to be a Trekie to watch this movie, they explain everything for you, it is very interesting and not very violent. I am 10 and i was fine. I say 100 thumbs up!

I just finished watching it in IMAX and it was incredible! I may even see it again. Oh and of course, i can't wait for it to be released on blu-ray! my only hope is they have two versions, the standard blu-ray and an IMAX (complete) version. I think for The Dark Knight, they should have done the same thing, have an IMAX Complete version and yes with 7.1 sound please! I caught the 10am show and it was SOLD OUT with the 1pm show sold out and lined up when we left! I do hope they make another one with the same crew and energy as this one. JJ Abrams has out done himself with this and YES, the franchise has been RE-BOOTED!

There is no difference between the IMAX version and theatrical.

7pm showing was sold out. I'd imagine that the later shows were as well. They had to check tickets lol to see if anyone sneaked in for another showing. You never see them checking tickets. lol People had no where to sit.

Well, I went and saw Wolverine last weekend, and that theater was only half full and that movie made 80 million.

Still, good to hear about the rooms being filled. If this movie doesn't do gangbusters the first weekend, everyone will count it as a failure, and then we won't get a sequel (kind of like Superman Returns.)

Still have yet to see it (going tomorrow) - can not wait!

Saw it at the downtown Charlotte Theater (Epicenter 5) and it was packed. The whole theater seemed taken over by the movie and the line to the next showing was huge. You could tell people had already heard the buzz and were eager to get in. Claps and cheers before, during, and after. My sister even said she wants to see it again! And the blu will ROCK for this movie.

Just saw it at noon and the theater was only about 50% full but it's being shown every hour.

Scotiabank Cineplex?

Are you sure they weren't just standing up to leave?

Technically, every movie has 95% of the theatre audience stand at the moment an end credit rolls. A standing ovation would be if the stood there and applauded for a full 5 minutes without leaving first. Just because they were applauding while gathering their belongings to leaves, that doesn't mean it was a standing ovation.

Honestly, I think that standing ovations for film only take place at festivals where the creative team behind the project is present.

I think its funny when people stand up at the end and applaud. It seems corny to do, who hears you? The movie employees?

+1 Maybe that standing ovation by the audience was sarcasism and everyone was applauding because the movie finally ended.

I have a question for the folks that have seen it, how many kids were there?

It would be nice to see the franchise get rebooted and have a whole swath of new young fans getting involved in Star Trek again.

Well, since my showing was at 1PM in the afternoon an a school day, the majority of people in my screening were all 20+ years in age... more 25+ would be my extimate for most of the theatre. I'm sure that the weekend showings will see far more youthful viewers in attendance.

What's your source? Certain sources include marketing in the budget.
But they have to have action figures and toy ships and others that they're selling. And the Burger King thing. Those will help some.

I firmly believe this movie will have large weekend numbers for a while. The word-of-mouth will keep people going. (multiple times as well) It may even have a huge 2nd weekend with the people that put it off because of Mother's day, but hear all their co-workers talking about it throughout the week.

I don't think trying to recoup their costs will really be a problem they have to deal with.

And then: EVERYONE will have one in their blu collection eventually, next to Transformers, Ironman, Dark Knight etc. --More Bank there $ $

Yeah. Well I'm taking my mother as part of her Mother's Day thing tomorrow. So hopefully it's not that crowded. She doesn't like big crowds. She's a big Star Trek fan. But not a Trekkie.

I think this is a big month for Hollywood. Wolverine turned in big #'s. So is this. Angel's and Demons next week maybe. And Terminator on Memorial Day weekend.
