LOL LOL LOL that one made me laugh!! duct tape and car speakers! Hehehe....see the thing is the guys dishing out the low ratings are usually the ones with the shite systems! haha....no, no, but really everyone has a fair opinion...after all what fun would it be if we were all 5's....

I guess it all depends what league you are in....Little league? Major League? i would say Sturgeon, Vader 645 and Niub Niub are the Titans...seriously there HT rooms look like proffesional studio grade show rooms...i didnt think i could cry 3 times in a day...but i did...and it felt good....hehehe

I agree, Eds - there's different variations of HTs, as far as Im concerned...

To me, there are "Home Cinemas" - which are rooms solely dedicated to HT, with a projector, screen and at least a 3.1 setup. Like Sturgeon's, Vaders, and Niubs.

Then there are dedicated Home Theaters - which are just regular rooms in a house that function solely as HTs, that have been setup with a nicely sized TV, decent towers (could be bookies), at least 3.1, similar to what zepherman has, Dblack has, what you have, and what I have.

Then there are Living Room Theaters - factoring in WAF, and not to mention that the room is multi-purpose, also a living room and as thus there might be restrictions with size/placement - i.e., Slec's and JasonR's.

Then there are the bedroom setups, with (usually) satellites, a smaller TV, and size/placement restrictions as well. Unless you have yellowblanket's bedroom, then that just throws my categories off,

There are exceptions, but these are my general concepts.

Nice categorization breakdown. I agree that the front projection, dedicated theater seating & separates( pre-pro & amp ), is the Holy Grail of Home Cinema. I reserve a score of 10 for those type of set ups( I wish the scale went higher, so I could give Sturgeon a 15 ). My living room & bedroom viewing areas fall between the dedicated Home Theater & Living Room Theater description( will have pictures up by years end ).

I scale my grade to what type of set up it is. If it's a dual purpose living room/theater that has been well done; I will give it a 10. Not everyone has the space to have a dedicated theater room.

I'd be one of those exceptions. My Lounge is a collection room more than anything. I did want the ability to play movies and games in my room though.

I'd agree, my big head would be getting in the way of the picture.

manu4panjab,

How does your setup work with games? Do they look good projected on a big screen like that? Curious cause I'll be going that route shortly.

I keep meaning to get some SD Vs. HD screen shots for you..... keep in mind I have no tri-pod though and wouldn't be able to figure out how to set the delay on it anyways

Maybe I'll grab some pictures for you today..... I've been watching "The Last Waltz" in my jeep, so I'll just compare those two (since I know the SD version vs. HD version is night and day on my LCD)

Sweet, can't wait. I'm real curious to see how SD looks on a big screen with the PS3. I know Brain Sturgeon said that the PS3 does a decent job on upconversion, maybe I'll get a separate player if need be.

I'm still on the fence about getting an LCD behind my projector screen.

My HD DVD player, and dedicated DVD player aren't at the new place, so the screen shots will all be from a PS3..... I'll have them up in a few hours

Hey I added a few new pictures to my HT gallery, please go check it out and rate it. I would also appreciate any praise (or criticism). I am pretty proud of my setup (although I wish I could have afforded a bigger screen) but I can take it if you don't like something.

Nice setup. I have a question about your DVD ISO images. I was looking at a Kaleidescope setup as well, but it's just too much $$$, can you speak on how you worked around it? Did you rip them to your harddrive and just play them through your PC? Does the xbox (hacked) do anything for you?
