I posted that a few pages back. Can't argue with him though; he makes some valid points.

What's funny is seeing complaints about the movie being "too long" when it's only 4 minutes longer than both Casino Royale and Skyfall.

I was rewatching 007 In Her Majesty's Secret Service with George Lazenby as 007 and he mentioned Spectre and Blofeld a couple times from 1969, with Telly Savalas as the villain. The skiing action scenes later in that movie were entertaining, though this new Bond film Spectre definitely amps up the action in comparison.

Agree with complaints that it needed 20-30 minutes cut. Other than that no real problems. Bond was bad ass. Enjoyed it.
[Show spoiler]If it is Craig's last the final scene is very fitting.

A lot more happened in both of those movies. Casino Royale had an entire 4th act that was almost 30 minutes long with Vesper. Length is complained about usually when the content doesn't require it.

Well the movie definitely pushed warm aside from
[Show spoiler]London and Austria
. but it didn't bother me. Fincher's been doing it a lot recently, no one complains there. Didn't bother me here, aside from (as I've said) the
[Show spoiler]London
portions looking like cheap video for some reason, specifically in the
[Show spoiler]old MI6 building
sequence. Curious to know if anyone else who saw it in IMAX noticed that; I'm kinda hoping it's just an IMAX issue I noticed and not something inherent to the source (even though it's probably the former).

The whole film looked like it had a yellow filter on everything.

If I notice it, I will complain about it regardless of the film.

While I prefer cool colors, I always want a neutral color palate in films. Get the tone you want by costume and set design, not color grading.

I didn't notice anything particularly offensive in IMAX other than the color, but I want looking for anything either. A lot of the shots you mentioned were at night. Could it have been film grain or noise?

It was definitely noise I was seeing, and it wasn't noticeable in any of the other nighttime sequences which is why I was so confused/turned off by it. I'll be seeing the movie again soon in a non-IMAX theater, will keep an eye out for it again.

Regarding the yellow tint - you really mean the entire film? Even the portions in Austria where there was nothing but snow, and early scenes in London (which were still warm-ish but certainly not blanketed in yellow)? If so, that might've been a projection issue...

The yellow push is well known.

Is Spectre showing in any other premium screens near you? I always like to go to premium formats when I see movies in theater; if it's not, I usually just wait for the Blu-Ray because it's probably a drama.

I stepped into a regular theater during a screening of Interstellar and it was pretty lame. Talk about killing the beast. Lol.

Yeah both times I saw Interstellar was 15/70, I wouldn't have gone any other way haha. I saw Spectre at the same theater but it's now been outfitted with a Laser IMAX projector; so far I've had nothing but good experiences with that as well, although for Force Awakens I opted for 15/70 again at an IMAX theater slightly farther away. If it ends up being any good I'll go a second time to the Laser one.

For Skyfall I went IMAX for the first viewing, then regular for the other two. I don't mind doing that with Spectre, especially since it's nowhere near the visual/aural stunner Skyfall was. (Really wasn't fond of Spectre's score, just a lot of recycling Skyfall's far better score.)

I saw Interstellar FOUR times in 15/70 and once in a digital LIMAX screen at AMC during their 'encore'.

My 15/70 theater replaced their film with 2K digital. I begged them to wait for laser.

I just called and they are NOT getting 15/70 Star Wars.

I haven't been back since Interstellar and with that screen size and 2K, I imagine pixels are about the size of my hand.

Damn that blows. Stories like that are why I opted for 15/70 Star Wars when I found out they still had tickets left; not gonna pass on those screenings while they're still around, cuz who the hell knows how long that'll be.

Yes, but the pixels are DMR'd so I'm sure it doesn't matter.

Spectre dates back to the very first Bond movie, Dr. No.

Best story ever is Deakins testing DMR for Skyfall and it looked like ass, then tested without DMR and it looked glorious.

I thought the
[Show spoiler] helicopter sequence
was absurd and looked fake too. Bond has long relied on great stunt work all throughout the years, however the amount of bad CGI in that scene really took me out of the film.
