The Audie Murphy set will all be westerns, but released as an Audie Murphy set and not a western one.

We have at least one more western set, most likely two, but more can come later.

I think we have 1 more 1940s western.

Updated 40s speculation based on today's reveal. We're definitely closer to figuring out most things.

[Show spoiler]18 titles remain:

1940 - 1
1941 - 5
1942 - 3
1944 - 3
1946 - 1
1947 - 2
1948 - 3

Of these, 4 are Bob Hope, 4 Deanna Durbin, 4 are noir (including 2 new-to-disc), 1 a western (I don't think Shepherd of the Hills can be defined as a western), 1 a WWII film.

Here's a more solid set of predictions than yesterday:

1940 - Seven Sinners

1941 - The Shepherd of the Hills, Nice Girl?, Caught in the Draft, Louisiana Purchase, Nothing But the Truth

1942 - Wake Island, My Favorite Blonde, and one of Arabian Nights/Lucky Jordan/The Mystery of Marie Roget (but if you class this last one as a horror, it won't be that)

1944 - The Suspect, Can't Help Singing, and one of And Now Tomorrow/Gypsy Wildcat/Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves

1946 - Because of Him

1947 - California and one of I'll Be Yours/Something in the Wind (very likely the latter, since they have one Donald O'Connor film)

1948 - Night Has a Thousand Eyes and two of All My Sons/An Act of Murder/So Evil My Love/A Woman's Vengeance

The key variable is whether or not Shepherd of the Hills is viewed as a western by the Insider. If so, California is out, and potential Bob Hope titles (Monsieur Beaucaire, Where There's Life) come back into play.

Cool. Keep the announcements coming. As always, hopefully we are getting closer to more StudioCanal from the 80's.

BarnDoor, why did you exclude these:

1946
Monsieur Beaucaire
O.S.S.
Smooth as Silk
Two Years Before the Mast

1947
Golden Earrings
Song of Scheherazade

1948
Albuquerque
Another Part of the Forest
Beyond Glory
Family Honeymoon
State of the Union
Up in Central Park

What was the exclusion criteria?

This was more me predicting rather than including every option (so again, this is guesswork and likely turn out incorrect for some titles), but I'll try and explain how I got there.

As I said yesterday, I believe there are 5 noir candidates left, and 4 of these are from 1948. Given that the sole remaining 1946 title will pretty much have to be either a Durbin or Hope title, that should rule out Smooth as Silk and the two Alan Ladd titles. This also means that the remaining 2 noir titles (i.e., those with prior DVD releases) will have to come from 1948, which pretty much rules out everything else from that year.

Again, for 1947, I think the remaining title either has to be a Durbin or Hope, but we'll see.

That said, if Shepherd of the Hills is the western mentioned by the Insider, meaning California isn't included, the exact make-up of the 4 remaining Durbin and Hope titles becomes a little uncertain, but as there aren't many possibilities it shouldn't have too much of a domino effect on the other titles (maybe changing 1 or 2 things on that list).

Also, a correction - there are 3 1944 titles left, not 2. As such, I've added a few more possibilities to that year. But no The Great Moment, since The Virginian was our last Joel McCrea title (per the Insider).

KL Insider,

Besides Whispering Smith, are there any more Alan Ladd films in the deal, or was that the only one? Thanks!

I'm guessing one of the 50s westerns will be Saskatchewan, since there's already a German Blu-ray.

Any reason to assume Great Gatsby isn't a possibility?

Kino Insider - any chance we could get a breakdown-by-year for the 7 remaining 1920s titles?

There are no 1949 titles left to announce (as things stand).

(Additional speculation on 1940s titles below)

[Show spoiler]
I think Frenchman's Creek can be ruled out, as it, along with To Each His Own, Love Letters, Kitty, and Lady In The Dark were ruled out for now by the Insider over on HTF, but he added that some may be added later on in the deal.

As for the noir titles, I have a strong feeling that one of the remaining titles is So Evil My Love, as the Insider over on HTF said that there were "2, maybe 3" Paramount noirs left, and there are no other remaining Paramount noirs that have been previously released, since The Accused from 1949 was just ruled out, and the other one is likely Night Has A Thousand Eyes.

As for any remaining Alan Ladd films, besides Saskatchewan from 1954, which I'd agree is very likely, these titles are the only other possibilities, all from the 1940's:

Lucky Jordan (1942)
And Now Tomorrow (1944)
Two Years Before The Mast (1946)
O.S.S. (1946)
Beyond Glory (1948)

Given what's known about the 40's titles so far, I would assume it's safe to rule out Beyond Glory and Two Years Before The Mast. O.S.S. has a French Blu-ray release, but it's more of a spy/espionage film than a war film, so it might be more likely that Wake Island is the 1 WWII film. I'd suspect the chances for Lucky Jordan and And Now Tomorrow would be dependent on whether Kino has Arabian Nights (1942), which has a French Blu-ray release, and Ali Baba And The Forty Thieves (1944), which has a U.K. Blu-ray release from Eureka. I'd think the likelihood of Arabian Nights and Ali Baba And The Forty Thieves would depend on how well Cobra Woman did from the last deal, since they are of similar genres.

Am really holding out hope that Paramount's "The Accused" will sneak in as one of the noir titles. Many sources consider it a 1948 rather than 1949 release and I believe there are 1948 slots available. Loretta Young, who always excelled when playing women pushed to the limit by emotional strain ("The Stranger", "Cause for Alarm!") is absolutely terrific in this one. Ditto Wendell Corey. And it did have a prior DVD release.

I had completely omitted Ali Baba from my list of possibilities, so that's definitely one that should be considered.

Looking back, I notice the Insider said '1 40s WWII film, maybe 2', so I guess it's possible that whichever one Kino don't have of Wake Island or O.S.S. (are there further possibilities?) could be added later (I'm guessing the title in question would at least have a DVD release.
