Technically, it's based off the New 52 origin, which was set in WWI. But since her origin is so flexible, they really could have done anything and it would've been acceptable. It's not just the fact that it's set in a World War that makes it feel derivative - the super soldier stuff, the way the bad guys are depicted as even worse than the "normal" German army, and the supernatural/sci-fi elements all combine in a way that feels a lot like First Avenger.

Fair, but it's foolish to claim that other superhero movies had no influence on WW, given how it references stuff like the Christopher Reeve Superman films.

Yes, you can criticize those films for doing it. Just like you can criticize this film for doing it. Earlier superhero films did not require such bombastic endings, and recent films like Days of Future Past demonstrate that a modern superhero film doesn't even need a traditional "final battle" scene to be satisfying and well-received. For a film whose message is "Love overcomes hate" to have a climax consisting of "punch the bad guy until he dies" is worth discussion.

You can follow what's going on, but it isn't what I'd call the top of the genre. Frankly, "I can understand what's happening" should be a baseline, not an achievement.

There are plenty of reviews and forum posts that give it 5/5 and say that it is a masterpiece. Some people have gone so far as to say it's the best DC movie ever made.

I enjoyed it. Every scene with Gal in costume was candy in so many ways for me!!!! I also thought supporting characters were fun and interesting. Then again I love World War period films.

I liked it but didn't the woman who played her theme (using that instrument) tweet that there was going to be a new version and it's going to be great? I am not too sure I heard it.........I got the soundtrack so I will be looking into it.

Some people really most love Wonder Woman.

As I was going to my theater. I passed by a worker and they said to another worker someone kissed Wonder Woman. They have a giant display. It has a big WW logo and then a foot or so in front of that is a standee of WW.

And sure enough as I walked past it looked like someone laid a big smooch on her. it wasn't lipstick and you could only see it from a angle. So either Lip balm or chap stick. Probably some guys only chance to kiss WW.

Saw the movie today and I loved it. Gal sold me as Wonder Woman. The action scenes were great (though the CGI was bad in some parts) and especially liked how she portrayed the compassionate side of WW consistently. I also enjoyed Gal and Chris' chemistry on-screen....it felt natural. Overall, fantastic movie.

I'm out of "Thanks" but this is a beautiful little review. They definitely had some chemistry going on. It was fun to watch.
