A bit surprised at this Pine talk as he's hardly a bit-part supporting actor, which would suggest the character he's pencilled in to play will transcend its supporting roots? Lord, what is DC on? Just give us a Wonder Woman who doesn't need to faff around with fellas... not in this first film at least.

Where did you get the idea that Diana hates men?! She doesn't hate anyone.

And Diana doesn't hate anyone. She loves people ... all people. Granted, she hates the actions some people take. But she certainly doesn't "hate men." Heck, she's in love with one. Now, her mother -- well, she's a different story. |

Of course it was Marston and his wife and their [sic] mistress' own particular brand of 1940s feminism, he was also the guy who invented the polygraph, an interesting guy to be sure. Quote:
The exact circumstances vary with each continuity of course (in the old Perez run they tried diplomatic contact but they were backstabbed spectacularly by an esemble of greek demigods led by Herakles, or Hercules if you use the roman name) but that's usually the gist. The new52 Wonder Woman is a strange beast, Azzarello writes her pretty much like classic Wonder Woman (tough but all-loving, and while not rigidly anti-lethal still extremely reluctant to use lethal force) while Geoff Johns and most other writers write her like a borderline sociopath at times with a dash of that weird thing some people think is feminism thrown in. |

Then again, I like those sorts of female characters in movies, too. Though, not sure what that says about me, frankly. ![]() |

The problem is it's not particularly appropriate for a character that's supposed to be one of the main members of that bunch of strictly-no-kill guys that's supposed to be the Justice League, it's not a character that acts in the underbelly of the DC universe like Kate Spencer/Manhunter in the pre-Flashpoint DCU. And the fact that Geoff "Silver Age FTW" Johns writes her like that is bewildering to say the least, in general it seems that "Master Geoff" sensibilities started to become more and more "nineties" (intended in the worst way, it's very sad when people in the sector prefer to imitate the Blood-whatever series instead of Starman or Morrison's JLA) toghether with most of this new52 DCU. I was pleasantly surprised by Azzarello's take, really, the guy usually writes noir-ish bleak tales filled with anti-heroes and villain protagonists, I would never have thought to see him use the character in this way. |
