I thought the Mad Max thread (and also a "Twin Peaks" board I'm on) illustrated that Will McCrabb is a guy who pretends to be in the know but seems like he can't actually back it up. He uses a carefully curated selection of photos and open-ended information to create the illusion of being there. For instance, the fact that this is just some book of storyboards and not a pic of, say, the 4K restoration on a monitor in a color timing bay or something.

I've reviewed the last couple of pages and I'm still wondering where the notion of a purported 4k UHD BD-only release came from? In any event, Fox' UHD BD releases have been combo packs so you wouldn't be "shut out."

Although it's of course more recent (and Jean-Marc Vallee has/had the Dallas Buyer's Club cachet), if Fox can release, say, Wild I'd like to think we'll be seeing a UHD BD release of Heat sooner than later. I'll bet my 1080 BD Steelbook on it.

Good points; I will reserve judgment until something official comes out.

Ain't gonna see UHD only releases for years, if ever. We still don't have BD only releases.

For anyone wondering if the conversation with Christopher Nolan at the upcoming Academy screening will be on a possible new release, there's a good chance it may end up online in some capacity on their YouTube page. They usually post up conversations for films just released, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it go up online somewhere, if not there. That is if it won't be on the new disc.

Foxconnect just added Heat on DVD for February 21, 2017. Hopefully the Blu-ray doesn't get this late date.

For anyone who's interested, those storyboard BTS pics from that twitter account have been made public back in 2007.

Check out Empire magazine's November 2007 issue (#221). For the release of American Gangster, Empire made a crime film special and Heat was a showcase with new interviews and BTS pictures.

Those pics on that twitter account is ripped directly from the magazine.

You can find the issue on amazon or ebay cheap.

Restoration arriving this Fall doesn't equate to a BD arriving this Fall. Also February is like 6 weeks post-Fall. No big.

Gonna have to find a two-disc tray to mod my Heat Steelbook so I can keep the UHD and BD discs in it. They can take their time with this new release though; there's plenty of other things to buy in the meantime.
