I'm watching these right now on Comcast On Demand. If you have that (it's possible other providers might have it as well, but I have Comcast) look for them. The ones I see available are: The Masque of the Red Death (1964) The Raven (1963) House on Haunted Hill (1959) The Fall of the House of Usher (1960) The Haunted Palace (1964) The Pit and the Pendulum (1961) The Abominable Dr. Phibes (1971) I plan on trying to watch them all this month (already watched 2 of them). |

This is an incredibly weird movie. The director clearly had no control over his star, and this is one of the most uneven, over-the-top performances I've ever seen. Cage can't figure out what accent he wants his character to have. The story in this is actually kind of interesting when it's all said and done, it might have been much better in the hands of a more capable director. It had me laughing maniacally a lot of the time. It kind of works as a tale of madness more than it does as a comedy, weirdly enough. Very entertaining, anyway. Last edited by callahan09; 10-03-2015 at 11:19 PM. |

[Show spoiler] 2014 list [Show spoiler] ![]() This was actually last night's watch. Late putting it up. No jump scare in a movie has made a jump as much as the one in this movie. Okay movie though. 1.) 10/1 - Dressed to Kill (BD) * 2.) 10/2 - Stir of Echoes (BD) * |

![]() [Show spoiler] (7) The Invisible Ray (1936) (DVD) ![]() ![]() ![]() I love old sci-fi movies that are filled with the romance of discovering the cosmos. It's an added bonus when those discoveries lead to horrific results. Despite having a superb cast I think this one does drag on just a little in the middle. Overall though, a fun look back at the way science, and its missuses, were written into movies. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() - I have seen this before, but it was only bits and pieces. I am still working my way through the Price-Corman-Poe films. I have both of the Price sets from Shout plus some of the Arrow standalone releases. Pretty much if Price is in it, I will watch it, and The Masque of the Red Death has been one of my favorite Poe stories. Very good for this sort of film. ![]() *First Time Viewing ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Loved this one. Price was perfect, and a wax museum with its lifelike figures is creepy to begin with. The atmosphere and mood were great. I just tried to start House of 1000 Corpses/Devil's Reject's double feature, but my Lionsgate House of 1000 Corpses disc has gone bad. I had checked it a few months ago to be sure, along with most of the other older LG titles. It worked then, but it does not now. It will try to load the menu, but will freeze and I even had half of the screen go purple with digital pixilation. Oh well, I just picked up the 88 Films release of Castle Freak, so I think I will watch that instead. |

* First-time viewing
[Show spoiler] The Legacy * (1979): ![]() ![]() ![]() Defiantly weird, awfully funny horror movie (was there a stranger time to release a horror film than the late-70's?) with a couple of L.A. architects (Katharine Ross and Sam Elliott with his trademark bristle-brush 'stache) who find themselves enticed to a gloomy English manor house, where a group of Satanists (or something) are awaiting the demise of their mysterious beneficiary, who will bequeath his supernatural powers onto one of them after killing off the rest in a variety of gruesome/amusing ways. Directed by Richard Marquand (Return Of The Jedi) and co-written by Hammer veteran Jimmy Sangster, The Legacy is just plain bizarre, and not scary in the slightest, but it's so defiantly odd it's hard not to keep watching. Where else can you watch The Who's Roger Daltrey receiving a botched tracheotomy after choking on a chicken bone, Sam Elliott having a standoff with a rooftop sniper armed with a crossbow, or a horseback getaway scene scored with disco music? |

10/3/15 ![]() Final Destination - ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Still my favorite of the series. I just love the premise to this one and while it's not particularly scary, there are still some moments that still have me biting my nails in anticipation. I do admit that the movie seems mow through the deaths of the kids/teacher rather quickly, but at least the death scenes are satisfying. This one still has my favorite of the series with [Show spoiler] . It's just so unexpected."Oh, the horror" so far this year: [Show spoiler]

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Wasn't expecting much. But I did expect more goofiness and gore In The Hood. You would think that having a serious Leprechaun movie would be good in some way, but Origins is just bland. I enjoy most of the others in the series because they are unapologetically bad and silly, and it seems to be funner that way. Thus, I like the first four of the series the best (although they all suck in their own ways ![]() Come to think of it, my scores correlate pretty closely to how I grade the Police Academy series. Me lucky pot of gold (aka, what I've watched so far): * = first time ever viewing [Show spoiler] 10/03 - * Leprechaun: In the Hood ![]() ![]() 10/03 - * Leprechaun: Back 2 Tha Hood ![]() ![]() 10/03 - * Leprechaun: Origins ![]() Last edited by Al_The_Strange; 10-04-2015 at 03:49 AM. |

2013 list
[Show spoiler] 2014 list [Show spoiler] ![]() ![]() Did a double feature of the Hitcher and its remake. I had seen the remake before never the original. Neither are really horror movies. Especially the remake which feels more like an action movie. The original is more creepy and that's because Rutger Hauer really delivers. Much more so than Sean Bean. The remake also felt like the shortest movie I've ever watched. 1.) 10/1 - Dressed to Kill (BD) * 2.) 10/2 - Stir of Echoes (BD) * 3.) 10/3 - The Hitcher (1986) (DVD) * 4.) 10/3 - The Hitcher (2007) (DVD) Last edited by nashcameronn; 10-04-2015 at 03:52 AM. |

The one scene still made me jump even knew I was aware of it. In the theaters it literally made me jump. Also if you are paying attention. You will see James Wan in a cameo as one of the people at the acting school. |

10/3 - The Devil's Advocate
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Great cast with Al Pacino as John Milton aka [Show spoiler] notice how subtle & crafty he is, Keanu Reeves as lawyer Kevin Lomax, watch out the lure of temptation will always come back to haunt you & Charlize Theron as Kevin's wife Mary Ann Lomax. This is how a BD PQ should look on all movies! 10/3 - The Omen (1976) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Superb cast with Gregory Peck as Robert Thorn an American diplomat that is appointed ambassador to Great Britain, the lovely Lee Remick as Robert's wife, Harvey Stephens as Damien, Billie Whitelaw as Mrs. Baylock the nanny, David Warner as freelance photographer Keith Jennings, Patrick Troughton as Father Brennan. So many great scenes throughout The Omen such as [Show spoiler] . Perfect ambiance on a overcast fall day or night, highly recommend...let yourself go and instill yourself in the world of The Omen...Pleasant nightmares ![]() |

* - First time viewing 10/3 - *Dracula 2000 (2000) - ![]() ![]() ![]() Ok so I figured going in this would be terrible. But there were a few things about it that were pretty good; the opening scene with the thieves, Omar Epps as a vampire, some of the one-liners. And especially the ending reveal, that Dracula is actually Judas and was punished by God with the curse of vampirism for betraying Jesus. That was great. The rest was meh. 10/3 - The Prowler (1981) - ![]() ![]() ![]() [Show spoiler] 10/3 - Sleepaway Camp (1984) - ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [Show spoiler] 10/3 - *The Mummy's Tomb (1942) - ![]() ![]() ![]() [Show spoiler] 10/3 - Underworld (2003) - ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [Show spoiler] 10/3 - Hostel: Part 2 (2007) - ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [Show spoiler] 10/3 - *The Gorgon (1964) - ![]() ![]() ![]() [Show spoiler] 10/3 - Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines (2012) - ![]() ![]() [Show spoiler] 10/3 - *The Ape Man (1943) - ![]() [Show spoiler] 2015 Thus Far: [Show spoiler]

![]() ![]() been over a decade since I've seen this one but my opinion hasn't really changed much-- this is a creepy and disturbing film that offers a solid horror experience but suffers from being too nihilistic in it's outcome. I think it was Leonard Maltin that said that this has one of the most nasty endings ever and I agree... it lowers the film a full skull for me... ![]() ![]() ![]() |
