The problem is it's not particularly appropriate for a character that's supposed to be one of the main members of that bunch of strictly-no-kill guys that's supposed to be the Justice League, it's not a character that acts in the underbelly of the DC universe like Kate Spencer/Manhunter in the pre-Flashpoint DCU.
And the fact that Geoff "Silver Age FTW" Johns writes her like that is bewildering to say the least, in general it seems that "Master Geoff" sensibilities started to become more and more "nineties" (intended in the worst way, it's very sad when people in the sector prefer to imitate the Blood-whatever series instead of Starman or Morrison's JLA) toghether with most of this new52 DCU.

I was pleasantly surprised by Azzarello's take, really, the guy usually writes noir-ish bleak tales filled with anti-heroes and villain protagonists, I would never have thought to see him use the character in this way.

Why can't they just do a live-action remake of the 2009 animated movie? That was perfect in every possible way

EDIT - Hum, seems like i might have read some Geoff Johns rendition of her then from the conversation
Just be glad that Frank Miller's not writing her.

(Although, I STILL laugh out loud every time I see that panel. HA!)

And I agree that Azz has handled the character well. I forget what issue it was that I stopped reading (comics in general, no WW specifically), but I've been considering going into the basement, looking through my longboxes, and catching up with the TPBs of his run. I was really enjoying it.

The thing about Johns is that he's always been pretty controversial, I think. He's an excellent writer, he really is. But the way he handles characters is not always going to be to everyone's liking. That's just the Geoff Johns Way.

I've always thought that Phil Jimenez' "Paradise Found"/"Paradise Lost" would make a great two-part film sequence. Also, Rucka's "The Hiketeia" is practically a film on the page already.

Dunno. Guess we'll see. Or, at least, I hope so!

That Wonder Woman was a self-aware caricature (like all of All Star Batman), and I don't remember Miller writing her outside of elseworlds even Batman in the once-canonical Year One isn't exactly Crazy Steve.

I don't consider Johns a "great" writer, he is probably the best writer among those who write uberstraight superhero stories at DC, but he is no Grant Morrison, and sincerely I don't think he does "edgy" very well.

Rucka's run is something I need to recover sometime, though when it comes to Jimenez I don't trust artists writing their own stories very much, at least not the ones who usually work on superheroes with very few exceptions.

Rucka's run was brilliant, you won't be disappointed. As to Phil's run, I think it really stands up well. He really took what Perez had done and stayed faithful to it.

And yes, of course, Johns is no Morrison. But ... who is?

Here's a glimpse of Wonder Woman in George Miller's cancelled Justice League movie...

ASB was written way before the worse part of his post 9/11 mental breakdown, I would not be surprised to find out that the problems with its publication schedule were due entirely to Jim Lee.

He's also no Bendis, yes, I'm a DCU fan but I like what I read of Bendis' Marvel comics so far better than Johns' stuff.

Chris Pine would make a bad ass Steve Trevor. I also wouldn't mind him leading a spin-off JLA team too.

Jim's not the quickest under the best of circumstances. Yeah.

I like the little I've read by Bendis, but most of it is outside the regular Marvel Universe. For example, "Alias" was amazing.

Just because AaronJ needs more Israeli sexiness in his life.

I read Alias, The Pulse and all the New Avengers stuff until Civil War and I really liked it, then I had to stop collecting TPs regularly for a long while, unfortunately.

Huh, just goes to show how unsuitable Gal is for the role. She has a stunning face but i can't take a stick thin WW seriously, they're going to have to pad out her costume big time. It's not like the illustration on the right has unrealistic proportions either. If they can make Superman and Batman look just as muscler as the comics surely they can do the same with Gal

Batman is a regular, every day human being. His strength comes from training and working out.

Diana's strength comes from being divine to some degree, depending on which origin they use. Her physicality is completely irrelevant.

And consider that Gal Gadot was a physical sports trainer in the Israeli Defense Force, and could probably kick your ass before you even knew what hit you.

Maybe, but she has to look like she can kick every mans ass (including Batman) and give Superman a run for his money

How much WW have you even read? She's been drawn in all sorts of ways. She doesn't need to look like anything.

Gadot's reasonably tall, beautiful, and it will all come down to how she plays the role. In the end, that's all that's important, all that matters. That's why they call it acting.

As an aside, and I've said this before, I always thought that Priyanka Chopra was the perfect choice. But that was years ago, and she's a bit old these days.

You've seen her act right? To put it politely, i'm yet to be convinced

Priyanka Chopra looks gorgeous but she wouldn't have happened in a million years, she probably have been contracted up to her eyeballs in Bollywood, If the best and most hottest of them all, Aishwarya Rai, never made a serious attempt to break Hollywood then Indian actresses tend never to make it big outside of India

I have never seen Gadot act, but then again, she's never been in anything in which I've had even the least interest seeing. And she has a scant filmography anyways.

But I've seen her interviewed, and she's seems personable.

Ok then

I mean ouch, that's bad acting right there!

I hope they deal with her accent as it's like hearing someone talk with a mouth full of marbles

It's funny you write this because Johns and Bendis are the same to me. "Capable" writers who like to tread the same ground over and over and really don't have much "great" writing in them. However, in the realm of comics, merely capable writers become stars because they can please everyone without having to do any heavy lifting.
