I watched it last night with no audio issues, dts hd bitstreaming.

On another note, love the movie, love Dug's Special Mission, the movie and the short made me cry! I was hoping the movie would not this time because I saw it in theaters.....Nope First 10 minutes I was a bag o' tears.

My wife and I watched UP for the first time last night. The first 10-15 minutes were about the most depressing thing I've ever seen. It was a really good movie though, with outstanding PQ/AQ.

i think the common denominator was that it was playng from a ps3. thats what i noticed anyway from the few posts i saw. i had no audio issues from the panny.

Yeah that's what I'm worried about I use my ps3 80GB metal gear ps3 for movies.

At least everyone could relate to the first 10-15 mins. The rest of it was not much better than the average Saturday morning cartoon. This was a blind buy for me in part because of all the 5-star reviews. No way it deserves a perfect rating. Wall-E and Ratatouille were much better.

I use the exact same model and I didn't notice any issues. I use an optical cable to my receiver for my sound if that means anything.

Russell's father left him and his mother when he was young, he has grown up without him. He believes that if he completes his merit badges, his father will return. He's essentially a young boy who hasn't really come to grips with the divorce of his mother and father. Watching the movie first time, when Russell began talking about his father, I thought his father had died and Russell was in denial about it, and so the story is essentially a young boy and an old man trying to deal with death of a loved one. But no, Russell's father isn't dead, just a bit of a deadbeat who no longer spends time with his son.

Check the bonus features on disc 2, they explain it.

Best Pixar movie story-wise and will definitely receive a Best Picture nomination is my prediction (just for the first ten minutes alone. that's one of the finest opening sequences in motion picture history).

Just watched this last night and anyone who says they didn't have tears in their eyes during the first 10 minutes is a liar. That is one of the saddest openings to a movie I have ever seen. I thought the beginning of Finding Nemo was sad, but this blows that out of the water.

Other than that this was one of the finest movies, animated or other, that I have seen all year. Every time a Pixar movie comes out I never see it in the theatre and then it hits home video and I see it and love it.

I swear on my love for Kate Beckinsale that I didn't cry. Ok, I am not actually in love with her, but that's beside the point. I seriously didn't cry though. Maybe it was because I already knew what was coming from reading about the movie here, but I do agree with everyone in saying it is a great beginning to the movie.

Wow, I watched this for the first time last night (blind bought) and I completely agree about the sadness thing. If I wasn't with a friend I probably woulda had a tear at least, great flick!
