I'm interested to see how the HDR10 compares to the Dolby Vision.

Weird. That they're subtitling Season 1 "The Maze". Wonder if they're going to subtitle season 2.

I'm actually really excited to see how the HDR was handled for this release. I'm hoping it's more subdued--similar to something like 'Sicario'--as opposed to looking like everything was lit with fluorescent lights and chandeliers.

I've never watched the show before, so I'm sure I'll be impressed regardless, considering this is a TV series. I just hope this opens the door for potential UHD releases for shows like 'True Detective', 'The Wire', and maybe even 'Six Feet Under.'

I compared the black level between DV and HDR10 on my B6 OLED. Sadly, it's a night and day difference. Dolby Vision has raised blacks while HDR10 has the correct black levels.

This seems to be a bug in the whole Dolby Vision chain in my TV, because it even affects the Oppo white-text-on-black screensaver they have. When playing in Dolby Vision the black background is more like grey, while in HDR10 it looks actually black.

I started the thread with the list of DV titles so you could say I am a fan of DV, but they screwed it up on my TV. So at least on the B6 the HDR10 version of Westworld is superior to the Dolby Vision version, for now.

Oh man, True Detective on UHD would be amazing. And yes, I would also buy the second season.

It's not just you. Happens to me (LG C6) on several titles and a bunch of other people as well, unfortunately.

Good to hear that the HDR10 version looks nice at least.

Game Of Thrones is shot on the Alexa. Only shows on film right now are this, The Middle, The Walking Dead, Crashing, and another HBO show that's being shot on film as we speak.

I doubt it looks as soft as you guys say, watching a good quality file, it looked excellent, they did use some older lenses (K35s, used on American Hustle, Her for select scenes) at times, although the Summilux-C (top of the line lenses in terms of clarity, sharpness, used on Mr Robot S2, Stranger Things, Whiplash, etc) & Fuji's Premier Zooms are the main lenses: here's what Paul Cameron, the pilot's DP said:

" Leica Summilux-C Primes and Fuji Premier Zooms were the main lenses. Canon K-35’s were used for the host dream sequence, adding a particular softness and flare quality to help separate the vibe from main storyline. I must admit that this was one of my favorite projects to work on."

Just cancelled my order. I don’t want to watch this season again if the PQ is not stellar.

Watched the first three episodes(for the first time) last night. Great show so far. Sir Anthony Hopkins doing a stellar job as usual.

UHD Disc 1 had several special features. Didn't watch them but I can confirm they were there.

It's definitely more subdued, like a Sicario or Apollo 13.

I watched some of Sicario again last night, holy cow that looks so good in HDR. Not dayglo multicoloured pop "good" but it looks so sharp and clean and adds such dynamism to the lighting. Wonderful stuff.

I always thought Sicario had the best PQ of all the initial 4K offerings in early 2016. It still holds up today as a reference quality example of what the format can accomplish without having to blow up your retinas with HDR.

Took a punt and ordered this one. This has been quite a confusing release 😂

Not a good movie but The Dark Tower has perhaps the best PQ & HDR I’ve seen yet.

But is there a difference between the Bluray and the UHD in terms of color? A post in this thread seemed to suggest that the HDR was so subtle that it was nonexistent.

I haven't watched the Blu-ray yet. I can compare it with the UHD when I get home in a bit.
