Ugh... not digibook sleeves. Guess I'll be waiting for individual releases.

1.66:1 would work, I think. All the images below are framed in that ratio -

Compare them with the 3D or 2D BD. Sources are mostly 35mm film frame stills from release prints. I apologise for the poor image quality.

Yea, I think you're right. That would explain why the slip box is so big as well. It's probably two separate sets of packaging splitting the two different trilogies. This also means the second trilogy will probably include slots for Fallen Kingdom 4K and blu which is cool.

It looks like a cool set (I love that cover!) but I do wish they’d do a cheaper 4K-only release. I already have the Blu-ray set.

Also, with a new Jurassic World coming out this year, and another in a couple years, it almost seems silly to buy an incomplete box set.

I dont think that will happen.
There are no 4k only releases. All come with BDs.

$90 MSRP doesn't sound high at all for 4 UHD movies. Final price should be around $50-60. I just hope they all look good and I get unscratched copies I can transfer to the BD packaging.

Just price matched the $68 Amazon price at Best Buy, only because I’m trying to reach the Elite Plus membership this year lol

My plan is to sell off my Blu-ray set sans the 3D discs for the first & fourth films and keep only the 3D discs in my JW round tin. I’ll still have room in the tin for the 3D disc from JWFK, in case this new set has space for only the UHD and 2D Blu-ray discs from the upcoming film.

Learn how to put your pictures in spoiler tags, it's annoying af scrolling through this thread (or really any Jurassic thread) with these huge photos that people will inevitably quote and duplicate.

I wouldn't have even seen those if the spoiler tags had been on em, from scrolling so fast.

Let it be the responsibility of the people quoting it to spoiler them.

I called Best Buy’s main phone (1-888-BEST BUY) number after I placed an order for it and asked if I could price match the pre-order price from Amazon. They’ll ask you for the product code which is B07B14J2PK to verify the price.

If The Mummy set is any indication, it will happen close to when the new JW film is individually released on home video.

Riddhi, what I think Freaky is saying is that although the full 1.44 height is there to be used, 9 times out of 10 the filmmakers don't utilise anything like the full height of the frame (even then, that's only when shooting on true 15-perf IMAX and not the 1.90 digital equivalent using the Alexa 65 which passes for "shot on IMAX" these days).

Most of them frame up the shots to fit the actual action into a centre crop (Dunkirk's 2.20 version was a straight crop of the 1.44 with very little repos required) and the rest of the headroom and footroom is used to give the image that vertiginous sense of scale on a 65ft high screen or whatever. It's rarely intended for the viewer to even be able to take in all of that 1.44 frame at once, we're literally doing our own pan-and-scan and/or tilt-and-scan versions with our own eyes in the cinema and the rest of the dead air is intended to fill our field of vision so as to add to the immersive nature of IMAX. This is why I've got zero problems with the 1.78 crops of any 1.44 shows, and I'm actually glad that the IMAX footage on Nolan's previous movies got zoomed in some more on the UHDs because it makes them feel a bit more intimate and less distant to me.

There are always exceptions of course. Hunger Games Catching Fire was framed up to take more advantage of the 1.44 IMAX height, so much so that the fixed 2.40 version is heavily tilt-and-scanned to track the actors as they move up and down in the frame, adding unnatural motion blur which I find very distracting. The 1.78 home version is a fair enough compromise and still looks great but the fixed aspect 2.40 version is a major let-down, it's a DAMNED shame that the UHD is in constant 2.40. And regarding your 'life sized dinosaurs' comment, when I saw Transformers 2 on 15/70 at the BFI IMAX they were actually advertising it as having life-size Transformers on-screen - not that I caught any major benefit of it because I could only get a seat near the front right corner and from that angle it was a bewildering mess (c'est la Michael Bay).

To that end I'd pay cash money to see a proper 1.44 IMAX Jurassic Park movie on 15/70, but at the same time I'd be a bit wary of any home version because the last thing I'd want to be doing is watching the splendour of IMAX in a 1.44 windowboxed presentation on a 16:9 TV.

Honestly they should only release the first 3 films in a collection like this. Having JW in there seems sorta out of place. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great movie, but it belongs better with a Jurassic world collection (once they finish them all).

Random sidebar, I want to say this is the most civilized discourse I've seen regarding distaste for movies in weeks. We all agree on loving the original, but our varying tastes for 2,3,4 are stated very properly.

Anyway, I'll sell someone my #3 when I get it, with a special Kirby Paint & Tile Plus t-shirt.
