I think so too. I’ve just took a look at the trailers SPC and MUBI uploaded and they look identical. The "starring…" fonts in the MUBI trailer are much sharper than the film’s images.

This is such an odd choice when usually everything has to be sharper and come with more "pop" than the film before. Maybe Davy Chou wanted to emulate a diffused look like many directors did in the 70s.

Why such a short gap in releasing DTL in 4K? Could they not have managed it simultaneously? Just leaves me a bit frustrated having bought the BR not so long since. But nice to see it, at least. Wonderful film.

Yes, it’s redolent of that silly situation we had years ago where companies would say, “Well, if the DVD sells well enough we might release it on Blu-ray.”

It just annoys customers.

And possibly will reduce sales - I'm another of those who waited months before picking up DTL, only for them to announce the UHD the following week. Makes me wary of picking up any other MUBI BDs.

I can’t imagine any of the other titles in their catalogue would be big enough or a visual spectacle to justify 4K - think one of the reasons would be the German/Italian 4Ks and maybe sales figures.

But yeah, I won’t upgrade every BD later upgraded to 4K.

Unless I'm reading this wrong, it looks like they now own the homevideo rights for 11 of
Von Triers movies in America. What are the odds they will actually release them physically, as opposed to just on their streaming service:

I was about to argue with you, as I saw it in the theater and don't recall it being sepia toned, but I did a search for reviews of the film that were published online in 2003/2004, and all the screen shots of the film were sepia toned. The Manderlay DVD was also very warm/yellow looking, so it's possible that the DVDs and Bluray were taken from the original digital videos and not processed like the film was (it's easy to forget now, but even though this film was digital, theaters would have shown it in 35mm, so Von Trier very likely would have processed the image when it was transferred to 35mm).

UHD incoming do we think? I don't think I've seen a MUBI title drop that much in price after less than a month? Doesn't look like they're price matching HMV.

Anyone know how long the Q&A on Medusa Deluxe is?

Also is the Holy Spider Q&A the same Zoom piece as the US release?

Anyone got Decision to Leave 4K yet? Are the subtitles better? (What was wrong with them? I found them too small and too much of a word salad.)

It seems they’re somewhat improved.

Fopp have a MUBI deal in store. The usual reductions to £8 with some more recent titles (Alcarras, The Five Devils, Holy Spider) included. All with slips as usual.

Cheers. I picked up most of these when the last big sale was on, need most of this year's bar Aftersun.

Despite the release date it’s not a very romantic film,
[Show spoiler]it deals with consent and older men taking advantage of drunk GCSE students on their first holiday and her friends assuming it was a consensual fun time rather than rape
, definitely a pretty depressing watch.

I wish HMV would also do these offers, the Curzon deal was months after the Fopp promotion.

Yep, that’s why I’m blind buying it. Give me dark drama over romance any day.
