Saw this on CBS Sportsline:

If you don't get it, look at the picture again, and re-read the caption.

~~~
I saw the play earlier today when watching the game. The ump said the guy on first pulled his foot off the bag, so Sportsline just did a bad job writing the caption (not to mention I think the ump made a bad call... looked like his toes were still touching the base on the replays).
You gave it away! I wonder how many would have picked up on that had you not warned us about the caption. Baseball eyes will pick that up instantly.
In fairness to the ump, though (even though I haven't seen the play yet, but the night is young and I haven't had my dose of SportsCenter), you can't see the first baseman's toe in this image. It's conceivable that it was pulled, if basing your opinion solely on this picture and not on replays...although I'll take your word that it was a bad call.
I have the one with him and cal standing together lol you shoulda used that one even tho its less effective
Haha yeah I always wanted to live there, was also fascinated as a kid as well and because of all the great things that happened there in it's first few years of existence.
I kind of wish we did have a ballpark like everyone else has now though... the throwback classic style but the Dome I always enjoy for it's great memories. It's nice knowing you will play every night with the roof, but it takes away from the game when it's closed I find.
Great Pic!
I remember the Jays getting no hit by him late in his career, his next start was also against the Jays at home I remember but he got blown out the second time. He was going for back to back no hitters against the same team lol That would have been crazy!
And yes, I dislike when the Jays play Wakefield...................................... they just pop his stuff up and then get cold for weeks.
This skid is seriously hurting fan morale. I got Penny vs. TBD on Saturday, I'm hoping the dome will be open this weekend. Halladay goes Wednesday against Baltimore so he's not playing Boston, again.
Yeah saw the TBDs on the website... I would think that means that Jansen goes Friday and Richmond on Saturday.
The pitching has been fine, no worries there at all... except for BJ Ryan...
And yeah the skid sucks but it's nothing abnormal for a team to lose around 7 in a row during the course of the season. Better to happen now than later in the year. The bright spots over this skid are the pitching overall and the defence... some great outs in that Baltimore game yesterday.
Just need the hitting to come back to life again.
What's worse... Cubs losers of 8 in a row... and the Rays blew a MASSIVE lead last night, i think it was 10-2 at one point? Lost 11-10 or something. Crazy!
My Cubs have been awful the last week. Last week they had absolutely no offense. Here's their run total per game during their losing streak: 5, 0, 1, 1, 0, 1, 2, 8. Gotta feel bad for their starting pitching during the losing streak, particularly rookie Randy Wells, who is 0-1 with a 1.50 ERA and games in which he gave up 0 runs in 5 innings, 0 runs in 6 innings, and 3 runs in 7 innings. I don't know what the Cubs need to do to break up this slump since it's been everyone struggling. Hopefully last night's game got their offense back to life and they can get it going again.
Yeah, I remember that game. I think Robbie Alomar struck out swinging for the final out.
It's also weird watching some Yankees games, because Phil Hughes and Joba are on pitch counts, and will be taken out once they hit about 100 pitches, regardless of whether it's the 8th inning, 2nd inning, or anything else.
And then there's Nolan Ryan, who once threw 212 pitches in a single game.
The game has certainly changed! All about the pitch counts now and pampering the players who still seem to get hurt more than they were 20 years ago lol I guess that goes with higher salaries though... protect your investments!
Bluejays having the same problem... avergaed 6+ per game and now 1.7 in their last 7 game losing streak.
Did you guys happen to face a knuckle baller 8 games ago? haha
Yeah, the "Joba Rules" from 2 seasons ago took the pampering to another level. I guess the Yankees realized they hadn't developed their own decent pitcher since Pettitte, so when they finally had what seemed to be a winner, they handled him extra carefully.
It is somewhat funny how if a pitcher has a 120 pitch game it is now considered a huge accomplishment and we treat the pitcher like an iron man when they used to average more pitches than that with a 4 man rotation. It is true though, times have changed. Pitchers get pampered (Joba rules) from the time they're in the minors so they can try to prevent them from being the next Mark Prior. I guess if you're paying a guy $100 million and he's supposed to be the face of the franchise for years it makes sense, but it'd be nice if there was someone like Nolan today.
****, we got Richmond a few weeks ago for the Yankees I think. Last year I went to two games with Burnett, the first time he stunk it up versus Oakland then owned Atlanta, we'll see.
That's true, and unlike the Rays they aren't huge collapses either where they SHOULD have won, those ones are tougher to get over I think.
Speaking of the Cubbies, aiming to get to Chicago for that weekend they're visiting the White Sox yet Stub Hub is about $60 after fees for the cheapest seats, is this as good as I'm going to do? Seems like it'd be a really cool game to experience.
Yep exactly!
Joe Carter was on the Roger's Blue Jays broadcast a few weeks back up here in Canada, and the announcers asked him what has changed in the game the most since he played... his response... the players were wimps, sat out too mich, couldn't play through injuries... etc. Said no matter what, they always wanted to play back in the day and win. Injury or not!
I often wonder if the will to win is much less these days for certain players. Especially when I see a guy like Alex Rios who looks like he is afraid of the fans in right field in Fenway and won't go after the ball when is clearly has a play if he hussles.
Anyway, Rios is a whole different issue lol
Ohhh the 1 run, 2 run loses are the ones that keep me up at night lol Well when we strand 10 runners anyway!
I fully expect a turn around tonight with Romero back and Halladay pitching tomorrow. And then hopefully some revenge on Wakefield.
The Jays and Sox have very lopsided home series'... Sox always win the Fenway games, Jays win the Dome games... last season 9-9 against each other for 2 straigh years I think.
That was sweet. Good ol' Mr. T, still sporting the mohawk at age 57 no less. That guy is doing infomercials now, which I find nearly as funny as that rendition of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game."
