i really like the format of that poster.
David, here is what I can tell you. First off, if you are wanting a "reproduction", and not an authentic original, than that seller will be the route to go. It is shipping from MovieGoods who are notorious for selling cheap knock-off's, and simply producing them in-house and in the same size as an original, that being 27x40 inches. I do find it humorous that they put $29.99 and then a slash mark and put a price over half that. The reason more than likely is because they normally charge $29.99 for a "reprint" whereas you can get the authentic ones for that price or lower. I have heard from a lot of people who aren't impressed with even their reproductions in terms of quality.

If all you want is something to tack up and not worrying about collectibility, then that is the way to go, but if you want to spend more and want the actual authentic original, send me a message. For the record, there were three different styles made for "Sherlock Holmes". The image you saw is the advance teaser style "A", the advance style "B" featured just Jude Law on it, and then the final style featured them both on it along with others from the film. Email me if you want and I can send you images of them all. Also chances are their reproductions are single-sided (which they should be, but they have been known to produce double-sided reproductions which that is entirely different story that is rather upsetting to see), whereas my originals are double-sided, which as you probably know are made for the movie theater light box frames.

Seeing that Blockbuster is on the verge of collapse (again), and rumor has it they are close to filing bankruptcy, that could mean the closure of all their stores, and then they will be selling off all their inventory. Remember though that the posters they sell are not official authentic movie posters, they sell commercially made posters, such as what you would find at mall stores, etc.

Not a poster on this thread but I have read just about every page and wanted to leave a little feedback. I decided to order some posters from Jon (Kinsella5) who posts regularly on this thread with his wealth of knowledge and unbiased advice. I am a picky buyer like probably many other people on this forum, and I must have inquired on over 20 different movie posters from him. I never felt any pressure to buy and Jon was always quick to respond to my emails and questions. He tried to give me the best deal he could even as a first-time customer, and his prices on the popular and thus hard-to-find items were fair and usually better than I had found. I'm on the opposite side of the country as him so I received the posters in just about 1 week, triple-packed and in perfect shape.

For all of us in this hobby who are very particular about the shape and quality-level of our equipment, items, and accessories, I couldn't imagine a more positive or personal buying experience.

Is that how you convince people to buy your posters instead someone else's?

Nope, not hardly. What I meant was if someone buys their posters from Blockbuster, first off I want to make sure they understand they aren't buying authentic originals, but rather commercially made posters that are what you would find in mall stores, etc. If someone isn't into the whole collectibility of a movie poster, then Blockbuster (or mall store in general) are ok, they are fairly inexpensive and my comment was more along the lines of since Blockbuster is more than likely going to close down more stores, perhaps people will find stores selling their posters off much cheaper just to move them. My initial message probably didn't come across that way.

Since I deal in a totally different product than Blockbuster or mall store posters, they aren't competition for me, and vice versa. I always encourage people who just want something to tack up on their walls or garage to go the reprint route (but they won't get them from me because I refuse to deal in reproductions which they are quite common and usually poorly made) but in some cases, you can buy an original for the same price (or cheaper) than what some dealers sell reproductions for. If collectors want authentic originals, they come to me, or a dealer they can trust, but there is a lot of dishonesty in this hobby (as with most collectibles), reproductions being sold as original, counterfeits, etc. I believe in being honest with my customers, I will take the time to explain to them the differences, even if they don't buy from me. I would rather see someone who is interesting in collecting originals make a wise informed purchase regardless if they buy from me, or another dealer, than fall victim to someone selling a fake, etc. It happens all the time unfortunately, which is why a lot of people like to come to me for questions about originals, because they know I won't steer them in the wrong direction just to make a buck.

Thanks for the kind words, it means a lot and is more appreciated than you think. Someday I will actually be all caught up too.

If the frame supports a backing to it, see if something other than cardboard would fit. It may, I don't recommend cardboard as a "backer", you can usually get a professional framer to sell you a piece of acid-free foam board which you can use as a backer for the frame, as cardboard is acidic.

I met him about three times when he was town here in Seattle on three different occasions. The first time I met him I had some Japanese "Pulp Fiction" posters which are much smaller than the U.S. styles but featured different artwork. He was so intrigued by the poster I offered to send him one so he wouldn't have to carry it around while he was in town. He was very soft-spoken and quite a generous guy. He was very thankful of me sending the poster and asked if I would find a few others for some of his other films which I did and sent to him. He started calling me Poster Boy and then I saw him again and asked how the Pulp Fiction poster was and he said he has it framed in his screening room at his house, which was cool to hear. But I haven't seen him probably in about eight years, but he really was a super cool guy to meet and talk to.

Hey another North Carolinian. What is special about the '3D lenticular'? I saw one for Avatar. Is it one of those that if you look at it from different angles it changes? Would it work with a back lite movie poster holder like mine. I have more pics in my gallery.

I go to http://www.movieposter.com/poster/MP...ck_Holmes.html to get my posters. May times if I get an advance release poster I try to keep my eye out for another one after the movies is out. For example, toy story 3. I have and advance original but I have yet to buy a new one now that they have the movie out.

In the case of good movies and posters, like iron man or LOR, the prices go up and sometimes fast.

Kinsella5 I have a question for you. I might need to PM you some time. I am looking for Milla Jovovich stuff at the moment. I am a huge fan of hers. I was just wondering if you had anything with her on it? I am ready for RE:AL. I am going to see it in IMAX 3-D. I am not a fan of 3-D but I need to see this one in IMAX. I am still waiting to see what the final style of the poster is going to look like. I hope they changed it up a little.

Great story, Kinsella. I wonder what kind of kit he would have in his screening room.

I scored Tyler Stout's latest poster for Let the Right One In. I wanted to get an old antique or gothic looking frame for this puppy. Something dark and worn looking would be perfect. Where do you guys think is my best bet? Antique shops or flea market? Or would this route be a total pain in the butt? This is the first poster I have ever tried to frame. Thanks for any input!

Tyler is an amazing artist. You should try Michael's Arts & Crafts, they have some good people who do custom framing, I am sure they can find something to meet your needs. Just make sure they do NOT dry mount the poster/print. You want it loose between the glass and the backing of the frame. Once they dry mount it, the poster is worthless. Also make sure they use an acid-free backing and matte if you go with a matte but you probably won't need a matte because of the size. Check the Sunday newspaper ads section for Michael's coupons every week or every other week.
