Digital Video Disc, which can have more than one meaning. Will watch this for the 5th time next week for sure.

LeAnn's parents wanted to borrow my BD over the weekend, but I said they can hold my DVD instead.

It's not "Digital Video Disc". It's "Digital Versatile Disc"

Maybe a fat lady with eight cats who doesnt leave the house.

Every week for the last three years I sold Mint Condition open box DVD's. Every week. It's what I do. DVD's NEVER sell for $10.00 and that's WITH the box and like-new packaging... So why would someone buy a lone Avatar DVD sans a case when they can just get the real DVD in the store for a bunch of penny's more?

The only way they sell for $10.00 or more is if it was a limited edition or rare DVD... or like I said, a fat lady with eight cats who doesnt leave the house

DVD originally was used for an intialized (yes, I just made that word up) unofficial name: Digital Videodisk.

It can be referred to today as either Digital Versatile Disc (more accurate title as it is not just for video), Digital Video Disc or just DVD.

Right. People (us) gave it the name "Digital Video Disc" because that's what we use it for. Video. And it caught on. But when it was invented, the "V" was for "versatile".

Just like people think LG (the South Korean electronic company that makes your TV) stands for "Life's Good". That's just what caught on. It actually stands for "Lucky Goldstar".

Clearly at least 51% of people still buy DVDs.

Not like Blu-Ray has overtaken DVD as of yet. And a lot of DVDs still sell.

And considering the DVD by it's self sold for $15.99 + tax, I can see people playing $10 for it.

It's more than 51%.
Even with Avatar, blu-ray couldn't break 30%.

Thats "old" people scewing the chart.

We want just the coveted 18-34 demo #'s.

DVD sales are UP this year compared to last year at this time? How does something that's considered "an old format" do better a year later? It must be because of Avatar.

How are CD sales this year compared to last year at the same time? Packaged music Compact Discs? (not downloads)

Yeah, I was noting that Avatar still sold 51% on DVD.

But yes, DVD is hardly dead. And won't be for a while. Especially with DVD only releases.

I remember how excited was when we got are first glimpse of the world of avatar:

[Show spoiler]

It's amazing how different the film turned out to be based on what I thought it would be like.

Haha. The first "glimpse" I remember seeing was a "leaked" shot of the warehouse that they filmed most of the performance capture in. All there was, were a few people, a horse and a few poles coming up from the ground, which at the time people said would be replaced as trees in the movie. I remember trying to build up what the film would look like in my head just from that picture. I'm kind of glad it turned out nothing like what I imagined. Phew.
