you can play dead without that. i do it all the time. the enemy will shoot you a couple times and if you dont move they'll think they've killed you. they'll be like "yeah, we did it" and drop the alert. try it, its pretty funny.

I played in Big Boss hard mode.

That is a typo in the wiki I think... You need >=51 continues to get the corpse camo. I'm not sure where they pulled 41 out of.

I need to play with it a little more, but the only time I used it was right before I alerted some guys. They walked over to me and then just walked away. Was nice, but I have to make sure it does no alerts before I try it in a Big Boss emblem run.

Yeah I know that, but I was talking about before I get to the MkII. I don't know where they are spotting me from.

Last night I finished the 1st chapter on Big Boss Hard, 0 kills, 0 Alerts.

And ..

-1- Restore item used.

That left me speechless. I have not used -any- restoring life item the whole time, so I have no clue as to what happened.
Anyone knows of any method to check those numbers while in play, instead of having to wait the end of the chapter?

This is very annoying to think that I would have to restart from scratch, but this round is only my training one, waiting to replay in BBE when (if?) the trophees for MGS4 are ever released.

Oh, I also found out that using the Mk2 instead of the Mosin Nagran rifle makes life a lot easier on the alerts (seems that the noise of the rifle gets you spoted quite easily).

If you have a restore item equipped it will automatically be used if you run out of health.

Also there isn't a way to check during the Chapters, only at the ends.

I thought Portable Ops plus had the story mode as well? Is "plus" strictly for online?

It has a new random stages mode, just play normal MPO and if you want more get MPO+ its like the VR missions for MGS1 and yes extra online.

Also, for the "auto" aim bit, there is no indication if it's on auto or not.
sorry if this is late, or has been answered.
Pentazemin calms nerves when shooting with snipers.
also, lying down when sniping minimizes movements.

Also, to snipe with the M4, I noticed a huge improvement on stability by using a Fore Grip (A or B). My favorite is the SVD though.
The Mosin Nagrant is also good on stability, but way too noisy imo. It'd be great to have the option to custom it with a silencer.

I don't know why they replaced the PSG1/T with those 60s stuff(litteraly the SVD and MN were SE weapons)

IMO, the game would be too easy if you can customize the Mosin Nagrant with a silencer. You don't really need a headshot with anesthetic bullets.

Did somebody experiment with the dolls using dead bodies in the Middle east?

The Mosin Nagrant sounds loud when you fire it, but it actually is 'silenced'. The enemy will never hear you shoot it even if you are hidden right next to them.

Kinda silly it has such a massive sound effect but it's true.

Actually in Act 1 Big Boss difficulty that I did yesterday the only "alerts" I got were fom being spotted from the noise of the Nagrant, even from quite far away. Every time I switched to the Mk2 afterwards I could be 3 feet away from them and shoot them without an alert.

What Peed me off some (although I guess somewhat more realistic, and I'm still enjoying the heck out of the game) was getting a head shot with the Nagrant but still a 0.1 second of "Alert", which meant I had to replay it anyway

In that aspect, maybe the physics are chillingly "accurate" as if you are close enough, the target doesn't have the time to go on alert, but if you arewithin a certain range, the sound will reach the target before the round, thus triggering a .1 sec alert. Depending on my LOS and distance with the target yesterday, I have had some weird results. The Mk2 is def. much more reliable for stealth in my experience
