Where did the money go if this cost $120 million+ and theres no action except the last 10 mins?
Did it cost a bunch of money to make the Thing look like a giant dried out piece of feces ?

It's sad that this isn't even all that good as a stand alone sci-fi film. I was hoping to enjoy it at least on that level. I'll still give it a chance but I wasn't expecting this many critics to destroy it, this soon at least.

Although we'll probably never see Trank's version I have a feeling his complete film would have been getting much better reviews. Most of the complaints seem to be about the third act(some say the film really only has a two act structure when you think about it)which surprise, surprise consists of a lot of the reshoots from Kinberg. It seems like the action they reshot for the end felt incredibly forced and didn't exactly fit with the first half of Trank's film.

I believe some of that had to do with reshoots that were A LOT longer than the couple of days Kinberg's lying ass mentioned. Also there was the talk that Trank wanted to try out this new effects program that could be done for much cheaper than going with a group like ILM or Weta. Well, apparently since they were still learnign this new effects program they fell behind schedule and had to then ask one of the big companies to come in to finish effects. That's more time and money right there.

Gift is currently at 93% on RT . Will be watching that along with this over the weekend.

I said kinda dull. It plays things pretty straight which I appreciate up to a point. I mean, my favorite Bond movie of all-time is From Russia With Love which is one of the most realistic, grounded entries in the series(and came out in 1963, coincidentally the year U.N.C.L.E. is set). But try to have a little fun with the material. It does that a little bit in the first 20-30 minutes before it settles into a more conventional spy movie plot.

Also, it plays out like a TV pilot. It builds up to them joining U.N.C.L.E. Which means Hugh Grant has very little screentime. He's maybe in it for 15 minutes, and that's a shame because he brought some life to the movie when he showed up. Plus the action sequences are cut too fast and one fight scene even occurs offscreen. And a chase scene late in the movie is kind of hard to follow. I wasn't sure geographically where each character was at the time.

Just to clarify, it's not bad. But it's not really very exciting or entertaining. It's something maybe you sit through 3 years from now when it comes on TNT and forget about immediately after you see it. I will confess I've never seen the TV show. So maybe it was made for fans of that. Although like I said, they don't join U.N.C.L.E. til late(and I mean very very late) in the film, so I don't really think that's the case.

Anyway, that's my brief review of that flick. Now back to trashing (Not So)Fantastic Four.

I'd rather keep watching these entertaining reviews over and over again instead of seeing this movie. I'm cracking up at how they all are saying the same things with such conviction.

It cannot be worse than Crapman & Robin. That movie ended and derailed careers. It nearly killed the entire comic book genre before X-Men saved it 3 years later. And it sure as hell can't be worse than Superman IV. Christopher Reeve himself was reportedly trashing that movie(at least privately when talking to Jon Cryer).
