MGS4 and "Bad Game" doesn't really deserve to be put together! Unless you are using the phrase; MGS4 is one bad ass game!

IMO MGS4 is the best game I've ever played...period!

I absolutely loved MGS4, but I understand your frustration with the cut scenes. At the beginning I was so hyped up to play the game and not just watch it.

Playing a session, making it to a cutscene, then sitting back relaxing and watching the cutscene made it much more enjoyable.

I couldn't really criticize the gameplay/graphics/story etc. though, I thought they were all top notch.

for me its the GOTY and the best Metal Gear game to date. I loved how they used to boss music from all 4 games during the last fight.

The only thing bad about mgs4 is that it did not last longer maybe 2 more missions.If the gave us an extended version I would double dip in a heartbeat.

I still have not finished the game. The cut scenes are horrendous! They could have easily been shorter and told the same story. During some cut scenes it took all I had to stay awake.. I was just waiting and waiting to save my game practically to take a nap. Some of the cut scenes are simply amazing but many are a bore.. everything is dragged out way too long.

I took a break to finish the game when I got my 5.1 rig..which I have had for 6 months now but I have not got around to finishing the game. I really enjoy the game.. but the cut scenes are really annoying and way over the top.

I am "amazed" someone did not love it

I am going to play through it again to find the camera this time and all the ipod songs in the game. Absolutely brilliant score and gameplay.

Everything about this game screams MGS.

Weird leg robots, making weird noise, monkey drinking soda, black dude who talk for hours.
Cut scene that never seems to end. All MGS trademark.

Can't be a fan of MGS and not like MGS4, it makes zero sense.
It's like being a fan of wrestling but hate watching guys in the ring with a speedo. lol

Even if MGS4 is not your favorite, no self proclaim fan can deny that the game wasn't enjoyable.

My opinion, MGS is MGS, there is no such thing as over the top in MGS universe.

And especially in the mind of Kojima. Cheesy dialogue comes in along the way.

But great fun and epic moments lies within.

MGS4 was amazing. the fact that guards would smell you out if you hid in a dumpster at an earlier point... the fact that they will see/smell your cigarette smoke... The fact that depending on how much of a shadow you are hiding in determines your health regeneration speed, stamina, and stealth-ness... the graphics, colors, storyline, and shere detail in the graphics. ...the 7.1 uncompressed audio. how can one not like MGS4?

probably one of the most complete, most well thoughtout and designed games ever made. the gecko may have seemed weird but look at the other parts that may seem weird to some people, snake and liquid being clones of big boss, or ocelot getting liquid's arm and then getting part of liquid's personality, etc. a year ago i had not played any of them so i bought the collection and played all of them before MGS4 and there are a lot of strange things about the series but it was still one of the best series and a great way to end snake's story.

The problem with MGS4 is that its a game made specifically with fans in mind (not a standalone plot, in jokes and jokes and jokes, entire sections of the game based on nostalgia, etc). That's all fine and nice, considering its a long running series. But because of the decision to make the game like this, I can't and don't expect newcomers to love it or even like it, because, as a standalone game, it is not completely awesome. It really rides on the coattails of the series.

As a huge fan of the MGS series, it is my favorite game series, and Snake Eater as my second favorite game ever, this is what I think of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of The Patriots:

It is the most aweful/wonderful game I've ever played.

The fact that you are typing this while watching the ending makes you, as well as this entire argument, a load of crap.

If you don't have the patience to watch cutscenes and enjoy a REAL story, then don't play grown up games. Stick to your empty hack-and-slashes.
