This is going to drive me crazy. I believe a scene is missing from the Blu-ray that was presented in the theater. The scene occurs once they arrive on the floating mountain. Norm was acting coldly towards Jake, then there is a scene of Trudy guiding Norm into the helicopter (for sex), and then the voice-over starts with "Norm is on board and in a better mood (or something like that).

The scene as I remember it is not on the Blu-ray. Does anyone else remember this?

There was no such scene in the theatrical version

If you say so, but I remember that moment. And I can assure you that I was not dreaming (very funny, btw ). And before you say I'm completely full of shit, I'll explain it better in the context of the movie.
In the movie, Norm was moody and angry with Jake, Trudy gave him attention, then Jake noticed that Norm was happy and on board. That was all in the movie I saw.

We all say so because there is no such scene like that, also why would Trudy have sex with Norm for no reason at all? there was nothing that indicated they had a connection like that. The dream comment was all in friendly jest, didn't mean anything by it.

Now that is getting boring. I stand by previous comments that the moment existed in the movie and I'm sure you stand by yours. As dorky as it would be to respond to your no connection comment, I will.

#1) Norm was angry and almost hostile towards Jake and is lack of understanding of the Navi (in comparison to his years of experience and training). Norm spent the time to do the Avatar training and probably spent a lot of time in school to prepare, so it is understandable that he would be bitter than a man who just arrived was doing better than him.

So you are telling me he would ignore the bitterness and be friends with Jake without any real change? He got attention from Trudy, that explains it.

#2) What connection do you need? Are you expecting a Hollywood style romance with flowers, dates, drama, with song and dance? That did share a cute moment on the helicoper ride to the floating mountains. But anyway

Before anyone calls me a liar, I wanted to point out that Trudy and Norm had a moment. So I have taken the liberty to read the script. I was correct in the placement in the movie, but incorrect on the circumstances. It wasn't in the chopper, it was in the bunk.

Quote:
"HUMAN JAKE emerges from the LINK to see --
TRUDY and NORM caught IN THE ACT on Norm’s bunk. Norm blushes
and Trudy waves, pulling the blanket over their heads.
JAKE (V.O.)
Norm’s attitude has improved lately."

I saw it two times in the theater, I saw no scene like that and nothing suggested chemistry between them. So far nobody has confirmed your question, quite the opposite. Could you please provide the link for the script you quoted?

Sure. To find the scene easy, just (Ctrl + F) and type "Human Jake emerges"

At one point you could download a .pdf of the file here

Thanks, but it wasn't in the theaters, maybe you read the script beforehand?

Ive seen Avatar quite a few times in theaters and i didn't see that scene at all.. But you are right, Trudy and norm did have a relationship but that was in Cameron's script. When Cameron let his script be released, there was a interview with him about scenes cut and he went and talked about the relationship being cut for being silly and out of place.

There were a few scenes that talked about Trudy and norms relationship.

[Show spoiler]When the final war occurs, Trudy gets shot down and says I love you norm, and norm yells no (he's on ground support) this scene was changed to what is in the theatrical cut, Trudy's chopper going down and saying sorry Jake.

I don't know if those scenes were even shot but they were in the script.

I stand by my comment that I saw the brief scene in the theatre.

So far everybody has said the scene was not in the theaters, so I'm pretty sure you didn't see it. Just because it was in the script doesn't mean it was in the movie, a lot of scenes were cut I can imagine.

So far three other people have said that it wasn't there.

I did see it. Now it's getting really boring. I've already told you I saw the brief moment in the theatre. You say you didn't see it. Fine. But I know I did. I know I saw the scene because it explained why Norm's mood suddenly improved. And this was before I read the script.

I would think that if this scene was in fact in the theaters, and not on the Blu-ray or DVD, someone on the internet would have posted it, and many people would have verified it....... people scrutinize releases, and I doubt a scene could be cut from a movie that was this wildly popular without people taking note (more than one person that is....)

Just my thoughts.

Do exhibitors still send different versions (subtly censored prints) to different cities? It used to be commonplace for Europe to get less censored prints than the U.S., and our Bible Belt states + the city of Boston used to get censored versions. We've heard from Greenland and Australia as well as the US, but let's wait a while before concluding that this material didn't appear in any print anywhere. I don't remember seeing it in Corvallis, Oregon.
