This is actually a very good representation of what it looked like when it came out in 1993. I was the projectionist at the theater and put the movie together (back in the days of film) and "teched" it as we used to call it. Bascially I and others who worked there would often play the movie the night before after the last showing ended. The entire staff came in to watch this one.

Those darker overall scenes were accurate due to mostly the bulbs in the projectors having been in use longer. I switched a new one for the Jurassic Park weekend, so those scenes were a bit brighter. Fun times.

Oh, and the other movie premiering the same Friday that pretty much no one came to see? Last Action Hero.

Re. THE LOST WORLD:

Does anyone know the difference (if any) between the DVD's 5.1, BD's 7.1, and UHD's DTS:X mixes? Any new audio/Foley, etc?

Such a shame how shoddy the first film looks on UHD, not nearly Cameron levels but just feels like it could be so much better.

What are the odds of Universal doing this properly to cash in on the new JW movie? Or another label having a go?

The BD 7.1 had some new foley, new jungle effects etc. I am pretty sure the DTS:X is based off the 7.1

Dolby vision isn't really enough for me to dip again on its own, but maybe we'll get some other improvements that make it worth it like Dracula did. All new masters for 1 and 3 would be nice but not holding my breath.
