Just purchased both sets on Movies Unlimited. With their May coupon ($15 off $100), brings them down to a more palatable $47.57 each.

Eh, if Uni is starting to take a page out of the Sony playbook, maybe they’ll start throwing the original audio on these as well? On the other hand, I could also see some higher up not really seeing a big difference between an Atmos mix and the original 5.1. It’s not as drastic a change as opposed to say, original mono vs. Atmos or stereo vs. Atmos. Regardless, I expect the digital copies on streaming services to update with this new release. If memory serves, you can currently stream the JP trilogy in 4K with their (presumably) original 5.1 mixes.
Glad to see some love for the second movie here. |

Even though I love Sam Neill and Laura Dern in the original film, Jeff Goldblum was hilarious. Having him come back for the sequel and pairing him with Julianne Moore...total brilliance. I read recently though, that she mainly accepted that role both to work with Spielberg, and pay off a significant divorce settlement.

The transfer itself isn't too exciting to begin with.

There will probably do some sort of fancy release for the 35th Anniversary in '28. So if ya want to wait a few more years.

The CGI stands out like a sore thumb in most shots but there's only so much that can be done about that in 4K... I am not yet fully convinced this release will have a new transfer, most likely it's the same one just with DV encode, which can't really fix the underlying issues. But I would really love to be proven wrong on this one, I would pay good money for a high quality, well graded, filmic transfer Last edited by Pocketkid2; 04-25-2025 at 06:20 PM. |
