I honestly don't know what to make of this. I've only just recently purchased the (current) 4K of Jurassic Park, as that's the only film in the whole franchise that I absolutely love (ever since I watched it in theatres more than 30 years ago), and whilst I don't think it's the greatest-looking 4K transfer, it's not that terrible either, to be perfectly honest, and is way better than the BD. Could it be nicer in a few places with slightly excessive DNR? Sure, but it's not egregious. The things that, for me, truly stick out like a sore thumb are the (thankfully few) moments of actual CGI, which show their age more than anything and can't really be fixed unless they redid the whole thing (which they won't). So what what will these supposed "new remasters" actually bring? Slightly better colour? And why on earth are they limited editions? I really don't get this. If there's really a new, incredible, better transfer, why would you make that a limited edition and then just keep on printing the old "crappy" one? I don't know, man, this just sounds more and more like a marketing ploy and little else.

Sony have done this for years with their re-encoded limited editions. They don't have brand new transfers admittedly, but have added DV, OG audio, betterer encodes, more extras and whatnot...and they keep them exclusive to those LEs while keeping the regular version in print.

So triple dip on two of the three World movies? Bought the rest twice already. The prior solo releases I bought since they mostly brought back the original JP/JW logos and it was a consistent theme. Maybe if these are remastered I will just toss the discs into the old packaging so I can keep that around. Makes me wish all the SteelBooks werent lousy…and that III had the one dino reinstated into the logo/title.

Getting a remastered JP certainly wasn't on my 2025 bingo card.

As Geoff posted upstream, now do The Bourne Identity!

I don't know what is "accurate" at this point, but I'll say I'm so used to the first T-rex attack scene being blue at this point that I'd miss it if it was gone. That's just the iconic way for that to look now, in my head.

It is supposed to be blue, but it's just the lighting that's supposed to be blue. Those Cundey gels! This scene has always looked off like it's got a blue haze all over. Will look glorious if they finally get it right!

Both steelbooks are available for preorder for $55,23 each at MoviesUnlimited.com. If both are preordered together the code MU25MAY works and takes an additional $15 off. The code only works on orders over $100.

I can confirm this works, just ordered them this way. It also gave free shipping, so overall much cheaper than on Amazon right now.

My question is: I already have 4K digital codes that have been used on my Fandango. Will they automatically update to the new transfers, or do I need to add the new digital codes that will come with these new sets?

There appears to be a few fan scans out there with most (all?) of them looking markedly different. I feel the 35mm in this comparison best reflects what I've seen on the prints, except it's a bit too dark and crushed (prints are notoriously difficult to accurately capture unless scanned on one of the few archival-level scanners capable of handling such dense elements):

Comparatively, the current home video grade doesn't even look that blue. It looks more magenta and the overexposed, completely non-filmic curve just kills the mood of that particular sequence for me. Not to mention that brightening it that much and bringing out more hues instead of retaining the lighting (which helps blend the CGI with the actual backgrounds) does it no favors either.

Yeah, the magenta tinged T-Rex scene is awful. Kills the lighting completely!

But it looks more natural and has more nuances. I can't remember ever going outside at night and being illuminated by blue lighting.

It's a movie. With dinosaurs. It's not real life. Nighttime scenes are typically filmed with blue or teal filters and lighting.

Preach it! It was only a tongue in cheek comment.
