Really? That effect looked pretty terrific to me. I mean, it was a combination of practical and visual effects. In the first trailer, it was off. Not in the finished product.

The sound mix was pretty terrible, both theatrically and on the Blu-ray. Unless you count being hammered by bass then struggling in comparison to hear dialog good mixing.

I'm a bit surprised it wasn't nominated, but more from the angle of nominating it for the achievement of the trilogy as a whole, as I felt ROTK was nominated and won (rightfully) for. I did think Rises did a great job of creating a huge sense of scale and in doing a bulk of it practically I think was refreshing in this day and age.

But at the same time . . . I'm not that surprised. It's no skin off my ass either way though. If it's not nominated or if it wins every award out there it's not going to change how much I enjoy watching it.

As much as I liked the Dark Knight Rises if the academy were ever going to nominate one of the films it should have been the Dark Knight. The Dark Knight Rises didn't receive the heapings of critical praise it's predecessor got. I could see a nod for Hans Zimmer, but I did not hear all the scores that were nominated so who am I to say?

At the End of the Day the Oscar's only matter to the Academy! Most of that fluff doesn't even appear in your local cinema anyway. After Rooney Mara lossed Best Actress for Girl With the Dragon Tattoo why would anybody care what they think because they sure don't care what we think. TDKR best film, director, supporting actor (MC), and shoukd have been nominated for costume design as well

Big deal, Bale did just much(if not more) for his role in The Machinest, and he wasn't even nominated.

Cotillard for an Oscar for this?? Did you see a different death scene than I did? Cuz the one I saw is probably one of the worst acted moments in the entire trilogy.
