Not a Bru-lay, sad to say, but the soundtrack to The Last Chase by the great Gil Melle has just been released by Dragon’s Domain.

I miss both AV Maniacs and HorrorDVDs. The latter hung on for a while after the former withered away.

Yeah, the latter just crapped the bed one day and never came back. Sucks because I really liked checking the beer thread around Halloween.

Ah, Horror DVDs. What a place.

I'd always post Shout! Factory news in the topic and it was where I found out Phantasm II would finally come to DVD at long last at the time.

Good times...

HorrorDVDs just disappeared without a trace. No warning. Pretty unceremonious but it had turned into a ghost town.

A lot of those members are now on Rock! Shop! Pop!. I signed up there (posting as "Trench") but it's a VERY quiet place so I rarely go there. Forums are pretty much dead these days but Brulay dot com is cracking along nicely. Anyway, and I think I've told this story before, Bill "banned" me from his store because he thought I was making fun of his Brooklyn accent. All I did was ask him about it. I thought it was strange that a guy from California would have a Brooklyn accent. He never gave the impression he spent any time in Brooklyn. And it wasn't until about a year or so ago that I learned he was half Japanese! He later unbanned me but buying from his store was a headache. RIP, buddy. We're keeping your memory alive here and will keep doing so until the end of times. Bru-lays don't glow on tree.
DVD Maniacs (I can't even call it AV Maniacs) was the best forum in the history of the internet. Will never be duplicated.

I also lament the loss of the IMDB message boards. They were a treasure trove of insider information, among other plusses. Too bad they were sunk by political nut jobs who began hijacking the threads.

Agreed. Reddit comes close but with the frequency of posts and categories stuff gets lost to time within hours. At least the IMDB boards you could scan topics going back months with ease. That really was a huge loss

Does anyone know what happened to DVDDrive-in.com? Not a forum, but one of my favorite review sites. Hadn't been there in a while and tried to visit it recently, but it is gone.

No. As far as I know, they didn't post anything about closing down or anything. One day the URL just stopped working. It really bums me out losing great sites like that, DVDManiacs, etc.

The proprietor of the site, George Reis, closed the site down since it was getting too expensive to keep it running without ads. He tried to make the reviews available for a fee, but I think he priced it way too high IMO, plus it was easy to do a Google search for the review and bypass the paywall, so he wasn't getting enough $$ to keep it going. I thought they and Mondo Digital had the 2 best DVD review sites on the internet; glad to see MD is still kicking.

Default DVD Drive-In

I discovered a way to access DVD Drive-In. If you search for Girl School Screamers on IMDB click on the external review section then click on the DVD Drive-In link it will take you to the archive.org capture of the review. If you scroll down to the bottom and click on HOME it will take you to the latest chronological reviews which seem to work.
