Imagine that.... another "rape" reference in another "GL" thread. Didn't take long to show up either.

It's gonna be the announcement of the "live action" tv series, probably debuting the fall of 2010.

It's not gonna be the saga blu's. Indy is already rumored to be out this fall. If that's still the case, don't be expecting any SW blu's. Lucas won't release SW and Indy on blu at the same time.

As long as the writing was good, I'd definitely watch a SW live-action show that actually included the Jedi and the Sith.

Hearing anyone cry That someone raped my childhood because they added a scene (Jabba The Hutt was original in Star Wars but was cut) or added special effects is sad. When i see a movie from my childhood, I have the memory of seeing that movie for the first time. No matter what Lucas, Speilberg, Cameron, or anyone does to a future release of the film can't take that away.
Oh I have answered the question many many times. Have you not been listening? It's his responsibility to film history and to the fans that pretty much made him. Sure he can do what he wants with them as long as he offers the "final" version that was on the screen in 1977, 1980 and 1983 in every present and future format. Remember they were the finished product or he should not have released them.

End of story..

historical preservation is not his responsibility, if a private investor wishes to put up the cash to do so and lucas agrees then that is just fine. But if lucas wishes to slice and dice his won privatly held intellectual property that is his right to do so. If consumers do not want to buy new re edited versions then lucas will make a financial loss, the risk is in his hands. Come on guys this is not communist China.

That's the thing...everything I've read about the live action show says no jedi. I remember reading something that said it will deal with the "more interesting characters" like senator organa etc. LAME

i dont know about that, has his business plan not worked in the past? Were the re releases in theaters and on vhs/dvd (and hopefully soon to be blu ray)not hugely successfull? I think he is doing something right

Actually the studio made his release Star Wars and restricted his budget because they believed the movie was going to bomb. Besides the special editions were all released in the theater.

His responsibilty? That makes me laugh. That is like going to a concert and expecting to a hear a song exactly like it was on a record, CD, 8-track, tape, etc

hes not alienating me, and doesnt uwe boll finance his own movies which do not even make a fraction of the profit (if any profit) that lucas makes on star wars

if that is the case why do you special editions of Terminator 2, Bladder Runner, Dark City, etc with all different cuts of the film? Should you not be upset that you are not getting the actual thetrical cut?

Ok well since you are losing your arguement, he hasn't released any versions on BLU yet. Special Editions, Original Theatrical Versions, Jar Jar does Tatoonine versions, etc.

look lucasfilm is a business, if they feel that it will be profitable to remaster the original theatrical releases and put them out in whatever format, they will. Their sole goal is to turn a profit.

Or since it was at E3 likely another Star Wars game or 14 that will be coming out.

Lol great counter point to a debate you lost. You stated Lucas did not have all versions of his film available for you unlike other directors I pointed out that you own non-theatrical versions of their films. I proved you wrong. He has the original versions on DvD. Also if you want to be technical, a high Def release of the "original versions" would not be original now would they? Especially when they were not "originally" shot in high def.

As for which verison I like, to me I love Star Wars no matter what verison comes to Blu.

It's probably be for a game release, it's probably another year or so before we actualy hear anything on a live-action Star Wars TV series.

And tell them that they can get either the Special Edition or Theatrical Verison on DvD? Sure, but I am sure they already know that.

so what, and the anamorphic dvds of the altered are not on blu ray in high def. I dont really see your point
