What type of method do you use to clean the inside? I need to give mine a cleaning. I've seen some recommend using a vacuum to suck the dust out.

I vacuum my PS3 every month - it reassures myself that it'll help prevent any 'problems'.

Only time will tell if this is indeed correct.

It still works perfectly!
Is your cat dead now?

Mine's horizontal. I never look at it anyway. I tend to stare at my TV.

I have it standing so the heat will not accumulate too much and it looks cool when it's standing.

I just switched mine from horizontal to vertical and I gotta admit, it looks alot cooler standing up.
Not to mention now I can actually see PLAYSTATION 3 writing and it helps to differentiate it from a george forman grill being mixed in with my electronics (LOL).

Laying flat, at least two feet away from all other heat sources (PC, TV).

My earlier thoughts EXACTLY.

Glad you've seen the light STARSCREAM as it does look WAY cooler indeed.

I use compressed air through all the vents. I have a air compresser nwo to do it but a can of compressed air is fine.

Vacuum cleaners generate large amounts of static electricity. Static electricity is very bad for electronics.

Mine is standing up in all it's glory, well, it's a small table that it's on and it shares it with my Xbox, so yeah, it can't quite go horizontal. If I ever get around to getting a proper entertainment center, I'll have it laying down.
