Return of the King is my favorite movie
the one thing i dislike the most (dont really hate it, just dont like it) is Elijah Wood as Frodo (also for the whole trilogy)
he was so ****ing annoying
now, i haven't read the books, so i don't know if that is how the character was in the books but, man....i can't stand him

i love the other main characters like Aragorn, Gandalf, Gimli and Legolas
and the other three hobbits i like
but i just wanted to smack Frodo in 90% of his scenes i didn't like him so much

I'll have to agree with MJ, maybe for the first time in my life. Jadedeath tends to confuse opinions with empirical data and think that "I liked this" or "I didn't like that" can be incorrect judgments.

But, MJ, what if he's right. What if we need to go back and check our work? We might have gotten the wrong answers on the standardized taste test.

If somebody likes something I hate, it won't stop me from telling them why I hate it. If somebody hates something I love, it won't stop me from explaining my reasons for liking it.
But you've gotta be pretty out-there to think that taste is a democratic phenomena.

I think the stars just reeled in the firmament.

I'm not sure sure how I feel about getting moral support from that source... just kidding, sort of.
Actually, I think we'd probably agree on a lot of things. It's your personality that I can't stand; but we've been over that. Same thing's true of Jade... I actually agree with him some of the time, just can't abide his behavior.

Nah. They just dropped their keys. Still pretty cosmically significant, though.

Default Alien vs Aliens vs Sunset Blvd.

I don't go as far as to be saying i hate the Sequels to Alien, but they are worthless , except Aliens has a kind of Rambo meets Alien charm which has a certain trashy apeal if you're in the mood for it. But it's only Alien that deserves to be called a stone cold Classic. And one of my favorite Movies is Sunset Blvd. which comes as close to perfection as any movie i've ever seen. I don't find a hateful thing in it no matter how hard i try.

Perhaps, but the thread is asking if there is something I didn't like about my favorite movie, not what's popular.

I'll take this opportunity to say that I hate the additions made to Empire in the 1997 SE.
Guys, I understand Aliens is itself a sequel. My point was not that I don't like sequels, or that sequels shouldn't have been made, but rather that I was disappointed with the sequels they made after the second movie. That's all.

My favorite movie is Fight Club and when the Narrator meets Tyler for the first time on the plane, Brad Pitt delivers a line, "You have some sick desperation in your laugh?" Or something like that. The line is delivered with the inflection of a question, but the line doesn't make any sense as a question. It bugs me everytime I watch it. Also, when Tyler is getting his face punched by Lou, in one cut he has blood on his lip and then the next cut he doesn't. It's just an editing thing, but I notice it everytime.

A new personal favorite is Pineapple Express and it bugs me that not only does Dale pay $70 for a quarter of what is supposed to be the dopest dope, what Saul hands him is not a quarter. That bugs the piss out of me. Especially when Seth Rogan is supposed to be a smoker himself and the movie is a weed movie. At least get your amounts and prices correct.

The Matrix Reloaded: That stupid cliffhanger ending

The Dark Knight: Nope. Nothing's bad about it.

Iron Man: The Stripper Flight Attendants.

The thing I hate most about my favorite movie (Star Wars) is the prequels.

I love it so much that, after I saw it, I was no longer able to say Terry Gilliam was my favorite director. It was good enough not only to knock my favorite movie out of its number one spot; I loved it enough that, on the merit of one film, I was able to say that I liked the director (Cory McAbee) more than Terry Gilliam and the 9 (technically 10) movies he's made.

In spite of all of that, though, there's two scenes that gets on my nerves. Whenever Professor Hess (Rocco Sisto) kills a room full of people, with his disintegration ray, the aftermath is a little overdramatic. We're staring at the piles of dust for a little too long. It's a little better the second time, on Jupiter, but it still could have been done a little less heavy-handedly.
And it isn't like the scenes, on their own, are horrible. They just don't fit 100% with the rest of the movie.
Other than that Samuel Curtis's (McAbee) voice can be a little strange, sometimes . . . but that doesn't bug me. I just think it's funny.

Anyway, scenes like this more than make up for the off moments.

*No that's not a "look how cool I am because my favorite movie is so esoteric" statement. It's just me stating the fact that it's not the most widely known movie in the world, so I'm not naïve enough to expect everybody to know what I'm talking about and say "Oh yeah, I hate that, too!"
Like you assumed, I've never heard of this movie. Just looking at the photo you posted, I thought this movie was from the 50's or 60's. After doing some research and finding out that it was made in 2001, I've become very intrigued.

I do have a question though. You said that Cory McAbee has made 9 or 10 films. I found that he has been in 9 or 10 films, but has not directed that many himself. Is my information wrong? If not, how would I find the other movies he has made? From just the past couple days of being back on the forums after a long time, I've found that you have a very narrow, one track minded opinion.* So, any movie that would knock a #1 spot movie out of its position and make you say that he is your favorite director after only seeing one of his movies, says a lot about a film. But for a director that hasn't proven himself like Terry Gilliam, its a bold statement to make. I felt the same way about M. Night, but now I've realized that he either captured lightning in a bottle or he sold his soul like Cuba Gooding, Jr. did to win an oscar.

*I don't mean that as an insult.

How poorly chosen the bit-roles were chosen in The Dark Knight. Pretty much every extra with a speaking role is cringe-worthy.

The Dark Knight - I love this movie so much but one thing that has slightly bothered me on repeated viewing is Christian Bale's growly voice. It is kinda annoying especially at the end after he fought the Joker delivers that speech, pretty hard to understand him

+1. I argued that the growly voice was a nice touch in Batman Begins, but in The Dark Knight, he took it too far. Which after learning more about Bale recently, seems to be the norm.
