I blind buy a lot, recently: The Proposition, My Bloody Valentine 3D, Quantum of Solace, Hellraiser (Yes, I really have NEVER seen it, haha), Tell No One, Let the Right One In... all on blu. Just in the last month, haven't regretted any yet! The number of DVDs I blind buy is about 3x that.

I actually prefer to blind buy, I find that I'm way more likely to actually watch them. And I try to do a bit of reading about movies before I buy them, so I don't generally get TOO disappointed.

[QUOTE=Steve46;2034294]About 40% of mine were blind buys.

Gran Torino - I picked this up after seeing it once and think it's a very strong movie and one I will watch many times. One of Eastwood's best performances, and possibly his last? QUOTE]

Thanks! for the feedback.

I think your the first person on this thread to say that Gran Torino is well worth watching more than once.

Does anyone else feel this way about Gran Torino? or do most of you feel it's a one time watch?

I blind buy about 75% of the time
Almost all new releases are blind buys since I dont go to the theatres very often.
Most catalogue purchases however are not blind buys.

I blind buy maybe 1 out of every 10, so 10% of the time. I try to netflix them first most of the time.

I blind buy a lot of foreign movies, simply because it can be difficult to find copies for rental. Sometimes the wait at Blockbuster online can be listed as "Long Wait," so I tend to just buy the ones that I'm interested in. Hasn't really bit me in the ass too much. In fact I got to see some great movies before they were even available to Western audiences. For Instance, I've seen Red Cliffs 1 & 2, even though the U.S. Theatrical release(1 truncated film) of these hasn't come yet.

Which? I love the original, haven't seen the remake and don't plan on seeing it.

IMO, there are a lot there better than Pearl Harbor Of the ones you haven't watched The Shining and Amadeus(One of my favorite eighties films) are the best.

I just got Amadeus yesterday at best buy for $14.99 and I should enjoy that one. The Shining I've seen a little bit when I was a child and when they showed it on TV.

My only blind buys have been the two Narnias, Hancock, Bladerunner, The Untouchables, and Enchanted. And none of those were disappointing. I might start blind buying more after my wedding this summer, but right now money is a little tight to be doing that.

None so far and I don't intend to. I've done a few blind buys on DVD, but with BD, it's still too expensive for that.

Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and Superman Returns.
I saw Superman Returns on HBO once and that was enough for me, but Batman Begins was my first Blu Ray, and was as amazing as when I bought The Phantom Menace on DVD. Say what you want, but I loved the Phantom Menace.

Every new release title that I buy is a blind buy. I put a lot of money and effort into my HT. Now I feel that my picture and sound are better than at the local theater. I never go to the theater anymore, but if something comes out that I would have went to see, then I buy the blu-ray instead. Blu's are really not that expensive when you can factor what you saved by not buying one or more movie tickets into the price. Titles like Dark Knight, Quantum of Solace, Taken were all blind buys for me. Wolverine and Transformers 2 will be as well. Sometimes you get a dud, but how much more did it really cost to buy it as opposed to seeing it at the local theater? This is especially relavent if the title is something that you might have taken your girlfriend or the family to see.

Same here. Haven't seen a movie in the theater since Harry Potter Goblet of Fire

The only blind buy I've ever done was for The Cook, because it stars Buster Keaton, so I know the movie will at least have some laughs for me.
