I am totally okay with seeing him in a temp suit that he experiments with until he feels he gets it right. I don't agree if it is true that we will see it so soon in season 9. I would like to see them talk about it, experiment, and really put effort into it, possibly even with a cameo from Martha.

Also, I updated the first post to put the main news in one place. I'll keep this open only through Comicon, since their is another Smallville thread.

I have no problem with him wearing a suit.

In fact, I was one of Smallville's biggest fans at the beginning.

However, they have painted themselves into a corner by stretching the series on WAY past it's due time.

For example, I'm not sure if the commercials for the series down in the 'States are the same as the one's they have up here in Canada, but in the commercial up here, {the generic one anyway} it shows Clark taking a look at the cape that was given to him by the actress chick a few seasons ago, him dressed in a suit with glasses {which they only did once} and him doing the crouch-down-getting-ready-to-fly thing.

Which is rather misleading, it's basically telling anyone who's never seen the series that he's already basically in his Superman personality.

Now, seeing as how they haven't introduced the glasses for Clark, having him dress up as Superman would basically just have all 3 main characters that DON'T know Clark's secret go "hey... don't I know you from somewhere..?"

If they had made Clark into a Superman-ish type character 3 seasons ago, and then made the series into something else they wouldn't be at the point that they are now.

Which is lost in the wilderness or painted into a corner, depending on who you talk to.

If you were one of the writers, how would you write your way out of the "GLASSES" issue?

I wouldn't have written myself INTO the glasses issue.

If I had a time machine like they are so keen on using, I would go back to the episode where Clark had to wear glasses and continue it from there.

But if I had to start from the end of the last season, I'd have Clark 'disappear' from the rest of the main characters for the first couple of episodes and then basically come back with glasses on. Make up some lame excuse about having masturbated too much and is going blind or something better. Given a bit of time I'm sure I could come up with something, maybe he comes up with an excuse about how when Doomsday attacked he got dust or something in his eyes and it damaged his corneas so he has to start wearing glasses for the rest of his life.

The key of the whole thing is getting Clark wearing glasses first, then he can go into his suit and preferably fly.

well, i still consider myself a fan of the show regardless of its faults and therefore choose to be as positive as possible. the producers will do what they want, and we as viewers can choose to keep watching to see what's in store, or stop watching if we don't like it maybe the show should have ended a few seasons ago, but it didn't, and i for one choose to continue having an open mind about what's next

I agree. While it is true that the show kinda dragged on for a while(season 6 and seven come to mind) it never came to the point of sucking imo. It still made me want to watch it. That doesn't mean however that the show cant still be compelling and interesting. I for one am looking forward to what's in store to what looks like the ninth and final season.

Drop the heavy red accents and add a cape and that would be perfect. Why would they be opposed to a cape after having alluded to it so much already?

What usually prompts Kal-El's life-changing decisions? Danger to close family or friends, although that didn't make him destroy Doomsday so we'll see, I guess. Maybe they'll do it like the other powers and he'll just "be able to do it" at some point. That would actually make sense..

I don't really have a problem with the projected suit. The show has already gone way past the boundaries of the DC Universe, so they might as well have a costume that is different from what we are familiar. I'm looking forward to what will happen.

I just want to see Kal-El get the absolute crap kicked out of him and then dig down deep and beat his opponent on sheer moxie, kind of like he did Titan. Sadly the fight with Titan was better than the one against Doomsday.

His inability to fly is a mental block. It's not that he hasn't yet gained the ability or something. His body is physically able, but his mind won't let him.

I really love that suit. Sort of reminds me of a red and blue version of the white/grey suit that Routh wore in Returns when he crashed landed on earth. Very pleasently surprised.

I don't have a problem with the suit, either. In fact, it always seemed odd to me that when they had the JLA episode, everyone else was wearing variations of their comic book uniforms except Tom in his regular ol' T-shirt and trousers/jeans. He seemed the odd one out even though he'd participate and utilize his powers like the others.

Heck, in the comic books, Conner Kent wearts a T-shirt and jeans, but the shirt has the "S" on it.

I like the rumored suit. I hope they go with it. However, THE Superman suit should not make an appearance until the finale of the show.

Correction.

There's nothing wrong with his mind in the show, or his ability to fly...

It's his CONTRACT that won't allow him to do it.

eh

I meant thematically. You're probably right, but it is reasoned in the show that his body should be capable of it and he just can't will himself to do it.

I personally think it would be great but on the same tokin I don't want to see it. I think the cliche red suit is over done a bit. Everything anymore is being redone for today. I think it would be a nice twist. Just redsign it wihtout so many stripes and breaks in color. But It would be nice to see him in soemthing the represents "superman" even tho he's not labeled as that in the show. But becasue he is labeled as the "Red Blue Blurr" I think it would be a good accent to the charachter. Just my 2cents.

There is going to be a scene in the season premiere between Clark and Jor-El that explains why he can't fly yet supposedly.
