Several Warner Bros. BDs had an advertisement for a Kubrick Collection, though it had no picture or artwork or anything like that.

A box set of the 5 films in the collection also released on DVD was eventually released in Japan. However, these films have since been released in America as stand-alone discs.

Unfortunately, not much Kubrick is on Blu yet. There are those 5 movies from the collection and Dr. Strangelove. That's it so far. I've got my fingers crossed for Paths of Glory though.

I'm assuming that the case is just custom made? I realize it's a bit pricey to consider you can get most of the movies for under $15 bucks now. Anyone know if it's real? Like I said, I assume the box itself is just a custom made box since I don't think an official box set has been released yet.
The case was probably imported or something, it's available in Europe.

1. it's either a poorly made custom box, or this guy is fraudulently trying to sell something that doesn't exist, it says "Stanley Kublick"! C'mon!

2. If this is some dude trying to sell a box it's priced way too high. I've created a way better looking Stanley Kubrick Collection Custom cover meant to go in a 5 disc case.

Well, the box itself says "Kubrick" so the little "Engrish" mess up doesn't bother me. It's a Korean site, I'd kind of expect that.

Do you have a picture of your custom cover? If I buy the films I wouldn't mind having one.

I just bought 2001 and 2010. Yesah, 2001 is the only Kubrick one, but you know, had to collect the series.

Anyway, the 2001 BD is supperb. Excellent transfer. Probably the best you'll ever see. Space shots are simply amazing. Ship models are extremely sharp with detail, even the moon shots are awesome. Only problem is that due to the time the movie was made, pre-moon landing, we didn't have any outer space images of Earth. Therefore the matte painting, or whatever they used there, of Earth, is painfully obvious and detracts from an otherwise masterpiece of film making. It'd be sacriledge, but I wish they would digitally replace Earth with actual imagery that we have today.

The BD is also loaded with extras. All in 1080i/p. Several 20-40 minute documentaries of the making of, retrospects, etc. on the film. Great stuff.

That image is of the (I believe) exclusive Amazon.de Kubrick boxset.

This is probably my favorite Blu-ray release! It really shows what the Blu-ray format can do and this being THE best sci-fi movie of all time it's a thrill to see it in such amazing quality.

Before I got my Vizio for x-mas, I rented 2001 on Blu from Netflix. I watched it on my 24" Sanyo. Even that was MAJORLY impressive! I now own the Blu. I'm getting. The next Stanley movie I buy will be Shining.

Wonder if Warner would ever consider using the Stanley Kubrick Archive as a source of extras if they want to release new BD of his films. Still wanna see all the films in the best quality possible and with the best supplements. Should be fitting for one of the greatest directors, a great collection of Blu-ray discs.
