I'm projecting 720p on a 92" 2.35:1 screen, and the blu-ray image is FAR better than standard DVD. At this size, I expect that 1080p will look better, but don't see the need to upgrade just yet.

How on earth did you come across bakmi and sambal ulek?

Tell ya what John, if ya ever stop by Jakarta, I'll be sure to serve you some sambal alrighty?

We'll eat bakmi whilst enjoying my blurays lol...

Terima kasih, John!

THat looks delicious!

How come our country has such boring food?
A traditional dish here would be boiled potatoes with gravy and meatballs! Unbelievably boring! Considering the crappy weather we should at least be spoiled with some great food but nooooo... Thats all been given to the people with the coral seas and the palms

Haha I'd love to taste that looks great!

Default Questions on pic quality....

First of all, thanks for all the wonderful and helpful feedback guys. I feel really welcomed by the blu community. I love it here. Go here everyday now.

I've gotten a blu player, the LG BD 370 which fits nicely with my 42 inch plasma tv. I was blown away by the great picture quality. When i popped my Casino Royale, even the Sony logo and Rating disclaimer looked so much brighter and clearer. I knew it was gonna be good. And it was. Seeing Bond on Hidef was amazing. I loved it. Saw the film again like never before. Every second there was something i'd "ooh-ed and ahh-ed" about. Fantastic...

Heck, the Hancock trailer looked so beautiful and clear. A little better than Casino i think.

I do have questions though. When i saw 300, i noticed there were tons of grains which i thought was quite normal for the film. But then i saw the special features, and in between segments they had clips of the films and they sorta looked better than the film? The picture was so much better. Are my eyes playing tricks on me? The same with the 'Coming to Sony' trailers. How come the Casino clip looked better (albeit full screen).

Not that i'm complaining, i love my BD movies.. As you can see I only have a few at the moment...

Thanks again guys! Very appreciated.

The clips from the extras were likely coming from the film at some time before the grain was added to the image in post-production. The grain is intentional and apart of the films visual aesthetic.
