The previously mentioned Kingdom of Heaven has to be the biggest example of how a movie can benefit from an "unrated" or directors cut. It's almost an entirely different movie. It was amazing how much was removed for the theatrical cut. So my vote is for directors cuts because that is how the movie was truly intended to be, not just how the studio wants it.

director cuts are they best if done right, if its info and scenes added that really add to the movie then im all for it

for the majority of movies ive seen that have a "unrated edition" its usually just 4mins or so of extra footage that is pointless.

It really depends.

Ridley Scott's final cut for Blade Runner is perfection.

George Lucas's most recent "original vision"/cut of Return of the Jedi is not.

Zack Snyder's Watchmen cut is far better than the theatrical cut.

Other times like with Drag Me To Hell is almost exactly the same and I don't care.
